Default TF2 Thread

So people stop getting so antsy in their pantsy, we may as well have a dedicated TF2 thread. Didn't find one previously in this forum.

@Joe: Was fun playing with you tonight. Learned a ---- ton, although spies disguise bites me in the *** every time.

Hit me up on the mt.net steam group sometime!

It should prove to be entertaining.

That was you? Sorry I just left you stranded there, but dinnertime was calling. And thanks for the gift- my Heavy is wearing it.

Yeah, the spy thing is a killer when you're playing as engineer and camped out in a dead-end spot like that. You have to just assume that every single player who comes running in is a disguised spy- shoot first and ask questions later. Remember that your sentry won't engage an enemy spy who is cloaked or disguised. You have to make the first move, forcing them to retaliate again you and drop their disguise, at which point your sentry will wipe them out.

So just start shooting immediately whenever you see anyone come into the room. If they're friendly, no harm done. If they were a spy, you will cause damage on them. Fortunately, they're usually focused on sapping the sentries so it's not too hard to get a couple of good shots into them, which is all it takes.

And the teleporter trick I was doing is basically an early-warning system. When an enemy gets into that hallway outside, they can never resist destroying an undefended teleporter entrance. That lets you know that someone is inbound. It also differentiates inbound spies from everyone else- a spy will sap the teleporter, whereas anyone else will just shoot it. In a best-case scenario, an enemy spy will actually use the teleporter to enter the intel room, in which case he'll be killed instantly.

I wish we'd have had more activity tonight. That was the most boring time I've ever spent down in the intel room. Normally there's more action, but I guess our guys up top were doing their job.

Man, those CTF games dragged on and on. In prior FPS's, I would say it is due to the teams sucking, but I don't know enough about it yet in TF2 to call it.

But timing out CTF maps with ~3 hour (I think?) time limits is crazy.

Yeah, that one last night was really strange. I've only played a few rounds on that map, but I have never seen so little activity down in intel.

Which is why I switched to pyro.

Actually, I got on a different server later and teamed up with another engineer to have some real fun- we'd build level 3 sentries just outside of spawn and then carry them downstairs to the foot of the bridge. Had to work pretty hard due to the spy problem, but it was a real slaughterhouse otherwise.

Want one? I have three of them, I could easily trade you for one. I've also got 3 frontier justice's, 2 ali baba's boots, 2 sandvich's, and 2 wingers if anyone wants any of those.

I'm with Brainy on this. The class is mind-numbingly boring.

Yep.

Oh, if someone wants any of the above, I'm headed to Europe for 2 weeks on the morning of the 28th, so hit me up before I leave yo. Just one warning, you'll have to trade me any class item you want in trade (Any, literally, it doesn't matter so long as it's a class item) - need this stuff for crafting!

I actually am starting to warm up to the item system. It's an FPS take on MMO gearing.

Sadly, there's one or two items that are severely overpowered.
