Coolant overflow bottle delete
#21
Think of the overflow as an expansion tank. The fluid gets hot, expands, and goes to the tank. As the fluid cools, the check valve in the radiator cap allows the fluid to re-enter the system. Air in the top of the radiator serves the same purpose with no overflow, but reduces your cooling.

After some consideration, I think I'll just paint the bottle black to help it blend in a little. I don't plan on tracking the car, but I auto-x about once or twice a month (not sure if the tech there would car or not, but better to be safe than sorry.) The car runs great, never has cooling problems, I don't really want to mess that up. Thanks for all your replies! (especially the intelligent ones lol)

Who said anything about weight reduction? And I already got rid of the washer fluid bottle, I never let my car get dirty enough to use it anyway. I doubt I'd notice a 100 lb reduction in my daily drive, let alone the three pounds of plastic and fluid in both of the tanks. I'm cleaning up the bay specifically for aesthetic purposes. I'll probably do a mild wire tuck and lots of polishing when the car gets put away for the winter.

Heres an old pic of mine...its now located a little lower and more towards the drivers side to make way for the shrouds I made...

FREEZING POINT DEPRESSION
Red Line WaterWetter® does not significantly reduce
the freezing point of water. If the vehicle will see
freezing temperatures, an antifreeze must be used.
Water expands approximately 9% upon freezing
which can cause severe engine damage. Even in
summertime, the use of air-conditioning can blow
freezing air through the heater and cause freezing of
the heater core unless approximately 20% antifreeze
is used.

I'm getting soft. My next car will have A/C. And power steering. And cruise control.
And 300 WHP.
