Default Question about intake temperatures and power?

I know this is a bit of an open ended question but for what kind of temperature drop do you need in your intake temperatures to get some form of noticeable improvement in power or throttle response?

I'd say you can feel a difference of 10 degrees ambient.

I would agree. going from a cool 70 degree day to a warm 80 degree day, I boost a good one psi less. Not to mention stuff heats up quicker.

Are intake temperatures about ambient with the set ups?

do the math. figure out the difference in temps and how much extra density you walk away with, then you'll know how much more oxygen you are burning.

AITs are one reason I like oversized IC setups. I run almost ambient with my giant IC and Vmount setup. Nothing like boosting for 20 minutes straight on track and being within 8degrees of ambient.

Don't worry so much about the specific math of ait vs power... just realize that the cooler the charge... the denser the charge... the more powerful the charge (assuming the tune is proper)

Yep definatly sounds worthwhile , i just trying to work out how much gain could be made and also thinking of some cooling solutions.

After a play with a calculator i worked out that for 14psi of boost about every 10deg drop nets about 2% denser air not sure if thats correct though.

not only do you gain power but you reduce the likelihood of detonation as temps go down.
