Default Scored a 96 motor, tranny and rear-end etc etc.

A guy bought a 96 miata that had been fliped for the airbags. He just wanted to get ride of the rest. I got the Motor, tranny, and rear-end. And and few interior pieces & new tires.
The maintrain only had 109K on it.

I'm trying to decide wheither to sell them or put motor in my brothers car. And the rearend in mine.
I need to fine out what rear-end I have. Can you run the vin and find out which torsen it is? Or do I have to look inside.

I looked at the 1.8L conversion kit. Can I use the 1.8L engine mounts out of a 96, or does it require machining?

I would have to swap over his S/c as well.

I quess I'll call Moss tomorrow.

For the people who actually know......... Is it worth all the trouble to swap over to the 1.8L?
I think he has the short nose. So I wanted to be able to sell it while it is still in great shape.

I have a spare 1.6L and now a 1.8L. We could swap either into his car. Or even drive it like it is.
But if it isn't worth the work. I'll just sell the 1.8L

Mazda can tell you the options if you give them the VIN. You can tell what package it is if you have the whole car. Power windows/mirrors/antenna mean Torsen.

1.8 engine mounts with 1.8 engine into a 1.6.(i think)

Hmmm. I quess it is back to the vin. It was a stripped down version with A/C and steelies.
94+ should hold up to 12psi anyway shouldn't it?

I looked back over the "all in one". It said that it should hold 250+. That should cover me.

So how much differance does the 4:10 gears make compared to the 4:30's in the 1.6.
I love the reving of the 4:30's. And I wasn't as impressed with 10psi as I thought I would be. But my clutch is weak. it is holding for the moment, but it is slipping between gears at times.

I am so happy about getting this rear end!

No need. If it's an LSD it's a Torsen type 2.
