Fender lost.

I was pulling into a parking lot at about 15mph and for some stupid reason I fucked up and turned too early and hit a curb. There was a huge horrible bang and then the pinch frame rail ground along the curb and it was over.

I totalled my first car this way, albeit at 45mph while driving in a "straight line" and looking angrily at a pizza hut (my ex gf of the time worked at a pizza hut). That time I blew both the tires, bent two rims, and bent the frame thus totalling the car which was a 1979 MB 450SLC.

This accident wasn't nearly as bad.. I think. My tire seems to be aok, wheel isn't bent (yay 6UL power), but my fender is fucked up a bit. I'm not sure how it happened. I run 225/50/15 RS2s on the 15x8 6ULs suspended on KYB AGX w/ FM springs front and rear and they do rub the wheel well plastic and mebbe the fender a tiny bit at full lock and under shock compression. I don't know how the pic below happened tho.. I'm thinking maybe the shock bottomed out and it squashed the bumpstop? I'm bewilderfucked.

Next-- What would be the best way to fix this? My first guess would be to wrap some duct tape around the teeth of a set of pliers and grab the messed up edge and twist the bastard back into place. My first guess usually ends up breaking more **** than what's initially broken though so I'm sure there's a better way to do this to try to preserve the body a bit more... Any recommendations?

Psh my lip will do that if I hit a mid corner bump. Just take a heat gun and warm the paint up and gently roll it back in place with a soft tool.

happened to me maybe 3 times. I just pushed the lip back in. If yo dont want this happening ever again roll the fenders.

I've got a fender roller I'll let you borrow if you'll cover shipping and a $200 deposit (to be refunded when I get it back). You'll probably have to bend it up a little bit to get it started, but the roller should be able to smooth the fender out nicely. Sounds like you could use a slight roll anyway. If you're going to try to bend it make sure to heat it up first (heatgun or even a hairdryer). It's amazing how much more pliable the fenders get when they're warm and it keeps the paint from cracking too.

OK thanks Pdexta-- I might take you up on that.

Will it do my car any harm to rip all the plastic fender liners out? I assume mazda installed them for some reason other than looks.

Also, do I want to get into doing a slight flare? That seems to require much more skill to do properly.

If you want, the shop that does my tuning has a fender roller and they're localish to you (harford county MD) I'm sure they wouldn't mind renting it to ya.
