Default Damn Vandals!

Greetings all!

Woke up this morning to find my black 99 was knifed by some bastard!!!

So, we have been having some vandalism issues in the neighborhood lately, several of my neighbors on the far side of the street had their windows broken on both cars and homes... some had trivial **** stolen from their cars because it was left out for all to see. A Couple that just bought a home ‘bout a month ago were first to get hit... then the other new couple had their jeep window busted out. Some of us thought that maybe it was the previous homeowners that were angry bc their house was bought at auction for pennies on the dollar. (Many foreclosures in our area.) Can’t really say; but it is strange the coincidences in any event.
Well, I have had my driveway and garage occupied for a few days now with another project and ended up having to park my 99 on the street… under a damn light and right in front of our main drag, with 10 homes all facing the car. Maybe 200 yards from my place… if that! Son of a bitch! My keychain alarm went off over dinner last night and it was right next to my wife’s mobile phone when she got a text… so figured that my receiver was getting interference from her mobile… did not hear the siren; so figured that it was her phone. Brushed it off and ate my chicken breast… Went out this morning and my top has 3 gashes!
Anyhow, made the claim with my insurance company and they have scheduled an appointment for repairs and adjuster time on Monday. Deductable is $250 and I’m not sure what to do. Think I have some choices…
Like the idea of a black canvas top; but really just don’t want a torn roof. Doing some searches online I can get a top for close to my deductable and will have to add a day of labor to it. Could buy a used top on a frame but shipping may be costly…
So my question to you all is, what would you do? Let insurance take care of it and throw on whatever it is that they buy? Or do I DIY and buy my own stuff and call it a day?
Oh, and what should I do to the bastards that did this when I find them? 
Cheers,
Prospero

Sons of bitches, sorry to hear.

Let the insurance give you a full quote for what can be done. Then see how much they offer for the labor to install. That will prob total up to more than you think.

Make your descision after you get more info. If all possible install the top yourself. Rather easy to do, and all tops you can buy come with instructions, along with the m.net support its not a horrible job.

Goodluck

This could get interesting.

I say DIY it. Especially if you buy one on a frame.

Lol, ordered a little something today...

Homeland Security QFDVR-DW2 Expandable Digital Wireless DVR- H.264, 320GB HDD, USB, 7" Fold-out LCD at TigerDirect.com

Spoke to my neighbor this afternoon and his government car got screwed with too... So we're gonna get them on camera!

Cost of top... cheap...
Cost of cameras and DVR... more than the top
Enjoying the bastards getting caught... ******* priceless!

Thanks all for the comments! Will post the result if I get em!

Cheers,
Prospero

Definitely DIY the top. It's not hard. I've done a couple myself.

So the insurance company, after the deductable, has given me $600.00.

Going to look around for a good deal; but DIY is for sure the best way to fly. Not gonna "**** away" my money letting someone do something that I can do myself.

Thanks all for the suggestions!
Cheers,
Prospero

yeah, because you can't take it off. lol

this is the great part about texas. If someone jacks with your stuff you can execute the in the driveway. When someone jacks with my ****, I let the sawed off-pistol grip moss 500 do the talking. If you catch them, murder them.

There are good installation instructions in the m.net garage. So far the instructions that I have seen with the tops is sketchy and incomplete at best. That said, I have only installed Key tops.
