Billet oil pump gear assemblies update and group buy.
Hello All,
We're trying to reduce some of our billet oil pump gear assemblies (inner and outer gear). We currently have over 30 in stock, and my supplier has asked that I reduce their supply. So I'm giving a group buy of 169 shipped for a limited time if we could get 10 interested. I need PM's with intent to purchase. Currently we have 4 gears that are spoken for so we need another 6 to make it happen. The more the merrier upto 30, but at that point I want to cut it off so that no one has to wait to recieve the part. All items would be shipped when you paypal the money.
Also a new item not up on the website yet is a billet oil pump assembled with stock flow gears for 329. They come in a new housing with a black oxide rear plate. They also come with a spec sheet that shows the internal dimensions of the gear set fitted.
The high flow units are going up in cost as they are being upgraded to a black oxide rear plate as well with a spec sheet. I will honor the current price on the website until I get it updated sometime this current week. So if you have a need for one of these it would be best to get an upgraded version now for the old price then later for the 43x.xx price in the very near future.

Travis (& mt.net members), I know all about your COPs troubles. In fact, I think it was around fall when I first contacted you about them, and I could tell from our correspondence and posts on here that you were having trouble with the system. You were upfront with me at that point, and for that, I thank you.
I then contacted you again a month or two later about the COPs system, and again, you were very truthful in telling me you didn't have product to send. So, I got a COPs harness from another member on here (that guy got his ***** busted for what was a VERY reasonable asking price), he delivered, and I got my COPs.
Then, during my engine build, when my OP looked iffy, I dug around for a good replacement. I thought about a stock pump, and I thought about re-using my original unit. But, given your truthful correspondences with me, I decided to give you a shout to see where you stood with your OPs. You said you didn't have any to send at that moment, you gave me an expected ship date, and I placed my order. I checked with you along the way, you confirmed the expected ship date, and I was reassured. I got them today, before the expected ship date.
In this case, you under-promised and over-delivered. I am a happy customer, and will come back to you if you have a product I need. You have obviously separated the troubles with the COPs systems from the rest of your business. I hope you can dig yourself out of that hole soon, I'm sure you've learned an important lesson in the process. If there is anyone here that has any hesitation in dealing with Travis because of the COPs situation, don't. He is an honest guy, and will deal with you as such.

The gears have been in the field for a while. The highest horsepower car is Matt Andrews turning just under 400whp at 8000RPM. Then you have guys at the other end of the spectrum running naturally aspirated on stock rev limiters. We've never had a pump failure, but good testing on these are hard to come by. Yield strength of the material is 8-10X the stock gears, and hardness is up around C16 from the stock upper B-scale.
There are hundreds of units installed, and none of the gears have ever failed even when subjected to extreme engine debris. We've seen objects as big as 1-2mm go through the assembly and beat everything up, but the gears still pump oil. They absolutely do not shatter like stock gears. They will plastically deform, but to get them to actually fail I would imagine would be near impossible. Just remember to assemble your engine very cleanly, and for god sakes don't bead blast the block or the head. Its amazing what you see when you sell oil pumps.

IIRC the '01+ pump not only has really poor tolerances, the gears are something like .030 thicker, assumedly to account for the VVT. I swapped my '99 pump with the billet OPGs over to the '02 motor I just put in.

Jason, who knows why they "upgraded" the oil pumps on the '01+ motors. If you go back to the initial group buy thread where the first fittings and such were hashed out, there is a bunch of talk on how crappy the '01+ pumps are, which is why the gears only "fit" 91.5-2000.

You'd never get it right. You would end up with a bowl shape that would accelerate the wear the teeth cause in the housing as it rotates. We use a 2,000 dollar tool jig a 60,000 dollar Matsura mill and and a $120,000 granite table CMM to make sure we have flatness in the high flow units after machining. I would wager anything cheaper then that method would cause you trouble.

Hrrrrrmmm, might work. You'd have to remove the pins though and those are no fun to take out. Clean lots after your done, the relief valve will thank you for it. The gears pump oil all the way up to .009 side clearance.

You guys just got to send me an email. I can draw one up in like 5 minutes and have it manufactured in no time. I just don't know exactly what you want. If you want a sensor bracket and all that It'll take a little longer and someone will need to get with me on what sensor you want to use.
