So I was skimming the local shithole forum and came across this lovely shitbit of a discussion.
http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/...-Using-a-Turbo
How can people be so stupid? I mean for ****'s sake Google is gtrl+t away from answering your ******* questions. The only reason I go to that forum is to pick on the retards since I can't get in trouble for it lol.

Wait, why is this a bad discussion? Because he can't read a compressor map and that his 7"/1" pulley combo rpm isn't half what the lowest rpm line is on the map? Or because he's describing a centrifugal supercharger?
I do know at one time there was a kit out there to make a belt driven super out of a turbo cold side section...kit came with a gear box to get the rpmz up high. Like a crude rotrex.

the rotrex doesnt have a gearbox. it just has a weird rotary traction drive to spin the compressor.
the procharger has a gear set inside
the powerdyne uses belts inside and needs no oil of anykind.

You know what I mean good sir.
looks like a planetary to me less teeth on the "gears".
EDIT: And that old 'kit' I was refering to used a planetary gearset as well.

The key to this combination is its patented traction-drive system that connects the unit's beltdriven pulley to a turbocharger housing and impeller through a set of roller bearings that produce an extremely high step-up ratio compared to typical geardriven centrifugal superchargers. Where a typical geardriven blower can spin its impeller up to about 5 times faster than the pulley (a 5.0:1 step-up ratio), Rotrex superchargers are capable of step-up ratios ranging from 7.5:1 to as high as 13.0:1, which puts the supercharger into the range of turbocharger efficiency with impeller speeds in the 90,000-125,000-rpm range compared to a suggested high of about 50,000-60,000 rpm for a geardriven blower.

I once saw Bob Norwood claim in print that he invented the centrifugal supercharger by putting a helicopter transmission or some such on a locomotive or heavy duty marine turbo compressor section. It's been done.
On the other hand, the dude saying that he's going to spin his T25 compressor 35000 rpm with a 1" blower pulley is brutally humerous by itself.

put another 4:1 jackshaft in there and you'll be at 140000 impeller rpm at 5000 engine rpm. That sounds good for that compressor map. No need for fancy rotrex gizmos.

I just don't get it.
How can a person get a turbo in his hand, and NOT think "YEEEEEEHA! Let's fit a manifold and hook this ************ up!"
"I think I'll try building this stuff into a supercharger, home made, since engineering mounting brackets and gears is easy as hell, and can be done by anyone with a welding machine and a cheese grinder."
This dumbass should have his "right to own a turbo" revoked for life, and be beaten with a garden hose every time he utters "forced induction".
