Advice on creating web pages
Going to try my luck at creating a webpage. Couple of questions:
1) What software do most designers use nowadays?
2) Is there a good book out there someone can suggest on creating web pages?
3) Any other advice on getting started?
Thanks.

I use dreamweaver, just because I've always used it.
I acutally have a freeware program at home called coffee mug or something that I like, I prefer its ftp abilities.
I strongly suggest learning the code and learning programming. I hate building webpages now because I'm so out of the loop with all the new technology and code.

+1 on Notepad++. Maybe not for someone inexperienced though...
I personally use Aptana. It's similar to Dreamweaver and has built in servers if you're planning on doing any PHP stuff. Plus its free.
Wordpress is actually really awesome too. I setup a blog for my wife with Wordpress so she could manage the content herself. There are also tons of free templates to choose from if you're lazy with the visual design aspect.
