Texas usually has somewhere between 200-300 people on death row, and it costs between $25-45K annually to house each prisoner.
That's how I got it the first time now that I think about it. His dad was just a little weirded out by it, but I wanted my parts and Chucky had fallen off the map.

Just for reference there have been studies on the costs of keeping someone in jail for life or killing them. It is actually cheaper to just to throw them in jail. When you sentence someone to death they end up spending an insane amount of money on appeals and new trials to actually make sure they are guilty.
