Woman *****-Slapped During Home Invasion Robbery
Dammit South Florida...

Dammit South Florida...
A pair of Miami burglars added insult to injury during a bizarre home invasion turned sexual assault this morning.
After forcing their way into a Brownsville house at gunpoint, one of the robbers proceeded to slap a helpless female victim in the face with his ***** while demanding money.
The robbers remain at large.
According to the police report, the male owner of the house responded to knocks at his back door around 3 a.m. That's when two young men burst into the house with handguns, masks, and gloves.
The robbers demanded money. When the owner said he didn't have any, the burglars kicked in the door to his daughter-in-law's room, where the 31-year-old woman was sleeping.
"The suspect placed the firearm to the [daughter-in-law]'s head and stated 'Bitch, where is the money?'" according to the report. "Victim stated she didn't have any money. Suspect then pulled down victim's shirt and removed his ***** from his pants and began hitting the victim in her face with his ***** stating again 'Bitch give me the money.'"
When the victim again replied "I don't have no money," the robbers instead stole two televisions and fled.
The woman later told police she believes the robbers had spotted her take out money from a bank earlier in the evening and had followed her home.

I seriously think I may have just set a record for the most heroic hack in this history of this TV station.
Our studio camera robotics system is pretty old. To give you an idea, the main controller is a 486-33 running DOS 5.0. Everyone's been real nervous that the system is about to crap out, so we actually bought a completely new system (new robots, heads, computers, the whole nine yards.) It's all been sitting in boxes in the basement waiting for us to find the time for it.
This morning, the computer crapped out and we couldn't get it back up. No controller = no cameras. No cameras = no news. On superbowl weekend. You know those stories about how many millions of dollars a :30 ad during the superbowl costs?
There's no time to install the new robotics. It'd take days to tear the camera platforms apart and rebuild them. No choice but to make the new controller work with the old robots.
So between 10am and half an hour ago, I ripped out the old controller, installed the new one, swapped out the operator controls, constructed an interface to physically plug three 25 year old robots which speak RS-422 into a control PC that speaks Ethernet, figure out the protocol to make the two systems talk to one another, and train the operator how to use the new system.
It has been a long ******* day... I seriously cannot wait to get on a train, ride up to the catskills, curl up on the sofa with the woman, and forget this day ever happened.

Badass work, Joe Perez. I think your project next week should be a Powerpoint illustrating how much of a shitstorm you saved the station from that you send to your supervisors. You could make it like the old Mastercard commercials.
"Lost airtime: $X millions
Reputational damage: $Y millions
Sponsor goodwill lost: $Z millions
Me rigging this up and saving Superbowl Weekend: Priceles.
But I'll settle for a raise of $A per year."

It sounds similar to how I used to be not too long ago. 1-2 cups of coffee a day at work, cause it's there and it takes the edge off hunger and the headaches. Excedrin was my best friend. I would have 4 decent headaches a week, at least one migrane every 2 weeks. This was for the past few years, tried medication for the headaches and that **** only made it worse.
And your doctor may suck at taking BP, like mine. I'm pretty sure I've had high BP for quite a while (since my headaches started getting worse and more often over the past 5 years or so maybe), wasn't until I started getting dizzy/light headed more and more often and stopped by a CVS to check my BP. Then another CVS, a riteaid, my mom's meter at home. I ended up getting real dizzy with a decent headache at a breakfast with the in-laws and went to the ER. BP was 194/129. And my EKG rhythm was "concerning".
Too may words. I cut out all caffeine (actually had my first cup of coffee in 3 months yesterday, about to get another now...damn) and salt, which we already do anyway. I'm on 2 pills for BP and it averages around 115/70, EKG is normal. No more headaches since the ER. It's seriously awesome.

I typically drink 2 or 3 liters of water a day, some days a few more. I think my water intake is good.
I'm feeling a dull pressure in my head again today, joy. Not exactly a headache yet, but I can feel something there, building.

I can't make this adapter work at all. I've tried both the Galaxy 4 and my new Asus memo pad HD 8 as sources, and a destinations I have tried my computer monitor and my LG TV, the latter of which actually has the MHL logo next to its HDMI 3 port. The TV detected that something had been plugged in, but no combination of devices produced a picture.
Samsung sells a device for $40 which I may try, I'm assuming that if anyone knows how to put a signal from a G4S into a TV, it's the OEM. For the time being, I just burned a few movies onto DVD for the weekend.

Why is it that any time a religious person posts some ignorant **** and I call them out on it in a calm, well written manner, they flip their **** and become even more irrational in an attempt to convince me why they are right and I'm completely wrong? Then they shut down and refuse to explain to me why they are right and I'm wrong, aside from quoting bible versus. I'm just trying to have a semi intelligent conversation on a topic in which I completely disagree with their bullshit and want some sort of explanation as to why they claim to believe what they do. I never get an answer... such is attempting to discuss religion I suppose. It must suck to be so insecure about your beliefs that you can't discuss them in a self critical way, and any attempt to ask questions about your beliefs is a personal attack on you and your way of life, and an attack to the baby Jesus and the good ole US of A.
As if anyone cares, my aunt posted the typical facebook **** (why I go there..?), share if you agree kind of thing, which said "God, we invite you back into our schools. Share if you agree". All I stated was "There's a time and place for worship, and school is not one of them. If you accommodate one group in schools, you have to accommodate them all. By the time everyone gets to say their prayers and whatever else, there's no time left in the school day to actually learn anything, which is why children are there in the first place. Church is where you go to learn about your god of choice, not public schools." which to me seems like a reasonable statement. Apparently I'm just being a hater, and trying to be negative and oppress them and their belief in god, and people of faith in this country are being stoned and driven into hiding, and they can't worship freely anymore, blah blah blah, under attack. My aunt seems to think god used to be in schools, and that's why there were no school shooting when she was in primary school. Apparently removing "god" from the pledge of allegiance (have they?) is removing god from schools, and why there is now violence there. If they have, it's been quite recently, long after school shooting become an unfortunate norm in this country. I wish I could believe things were so cut and dry simple all of the time. I could go through my life floating on a cloud.

The first school shooting in the US was in 1760.
What kind of bizzaro, alternate world are they living in?

They used to have shootings in most schools on a regular basis. Most high schools had competitive rifle teams and many of them practiced in the basement of the schools. Many still do.
