Ok, I'm mad.
A tech came in on Friday to service the Keurig machine in the office, which has been brewing very slowly. He did not succeed in fixing the problem in any way, and now, for some reason, the GUI no longer allows you to select a 12oz brew, only 8 or 10. I assume he loaded updated firmware into it to cause this new problem, though I have no idea why. (And no, ours isn't one of the ones which implemented the DRM thing a year ago. It predates that whole debacle.)
Sidebar: I just mentioned firmware, digital-rights management, and touchscreen GUIs while discussing a coffee maker. The future is stupid.

Hmmm, I wonder what prompted that move....Definitely couldn't be the ford F series.
On that note, I hate this commercial, so ******* misleading, and just a pointless jab. Guarantee GM will be using aluminum bodies as soon as they can.

Misleading* by "claiming" that steel is stronger than aluminum, or a "feeling" is better.
When the aluminum bodied truck is superior in every way.
*Its good advertising, but that doesn't make it **** me off any less.

Voice of Reason:
Since when did the majority of consumers make important purchasing decisions based more on facts and truth than on feelings and emotion?
And pickup trucks, especially.
Just think of how many truck ads you've seen which depict Big, Manly trucks doing Big, Manly things (like towing / hauling heavy **** at construction sites or oil fields), while vaguely patriotic music plays in the background?
Contrast this with the number of truck ads you've seen that included dyno plots, gear ratios, or data concerning tongue weight.

Still doesn't change the fact that it pisses me off
I am not dismissing the good marketing. I'm dreaming of a world full of engineers.
Other bits in that dream turn it nasty pretty quickly though mostly some of the women in the engineering program at my school.

If that cage had been steel, it wouldn't have happened.

And speaking of marketing, truth, feelings, and emotion, how many stressed out peeps have bought sunglasses that cost more than $30? $80? $150? $260? $320? It only cost the company $12 to have the Indonesian ten-year-old make that $300 pair, you know.
Coco Chanel grew up penniless and orphaned and she loathed wealthy people for the way they treated her. She faked her way into society circles and then purposefully sold them the chintziest crap she could find at huge margins. She actively sought out the lowest quality materials on purpose so when snobby people wore her garments she gained satisfaction that she was more clever than them. That is how she sought her revenge for the cruelty she endured as a child.

Getting my first dog this afternoon. 5 year old mix from the humane society.
Someone learn me on pet insurance, is it a scam? Worth it? Necessary? She is in good health right now, with 2 possible dead teeth, they suggested they be checked out in the next year or so.

I priced that stuff out, was around $16 a month for my dog. I don't think I've ever spent more than $100 a year at the vet, yet, so I'm still feeling pretty decent on my decision.
Course my pup is just now getting to 5 years, probably more per month now, and probably more worth it.

I wonder how many of these same people get similarly stressed out when in the truck commercials a huge load of *whatever* is DROPPED into a brand new pickup truck's bed, slamming it onto its bumpstops, bending axles and twisting frames? I bet the doors don't open or close right on many of them after the filming.
The weird thing is that I can't really remember whether the same phenomenon occurred with KITT. But as Micheal Knight used to say, you gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.
