How (and why) to Ramble on your goat sideways

600 HZ, although that's just due to the nature of PDPs, the true refresh rate is 60hz. You could say that they are quite similar to old school CRT displays, except with a much higher "repaint" rate. I did some reading and apparently 14% of people can notice the flickering. I must be in the 14%. I also noticed a rainbow effect when running a THX calibration dvd, but I'm not sensitive to rainbows on my DLP unless I'm purposefully trying to notice it.
Rubbing Plasmas won't do a thing, they're made of glass, lol. Dead blue pixel is still there, but I've come to realize that it is impossible to notice unless I'm about a foot from the screen, displaying a wholly blue screen. Oh the joys of 1080P.
It's been running break in images from here (http://www.eaprogramming.com/) for the past 25 hours now. I watched a movie today! It was a DVD of "The Final Countdown". Lots of F-14's and Corsairs in it. OK movie, cool footage of jets though. This TV is amazing.
I must say that I did not notice any flickering when watching regular content, only on the white and gray break in slides did I notice flickering. Last night I was thinking I was going to have to return it and get a shitty LCD, but I'm not worried about that anymore.
Oh yeah, it's a TC-P42S2.
Lol at this Mac failure:

ATTENTION MAC USERS!
The MacIntosh computing platform has a bizarre need to create two separate files when saving onto a non-Mac formatted disk or drive: one is a data fork, and the other a resource fork. Rather than explain why this is a dumb way to design a file system, I'll cut to the chase: as with pretty much every other electronic device in the non-Mac world, your plasma TV can only understand data forks, not resource forks.

Grind some flat edges on the bolt head and use one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Gator-Grip-ETC.../dp/B000065CJ8
And use a proper 6 point wrench or socket next time to avoid stripping them. Adjustable wrenches are fail.

Regardless, I managed to get it out with my angle grinder

Tuesday is my BDay, I'm celebrating by buying a 02 Honda Insight for my daily 140mi round trip commute to work. Should end up saving me up to $300/mo in gas, $200/mo minimum. I already test drove it and put down a deposit, gonna be a fun ride and should keep me out of wreckless driving speeds like I do now. Car will pay for itself in gas savings in less than 2 years. After I sell my current daily I will be netting that savings immediately since I was already financing a car. I plan on keeping it until I can no longer buy parts to repair it. Hopefully another 20 years :P
I've already researched the battery and I know where to source the cells, build a trickle charger for monthly balances, and what analyzer to use to individually rebalance and test cells for a full rebuild. Needless to say, I'm not worried about the battery pack costs.

Not interested at all in a motorcycle, I've already given a ACL, LCL, and PCL to the R6 I used to own. I'll stick to seat belts and airbags and still get my 65MPG. I don't see the Insight looking any gayer than a miata. Its an engineering work of genius really, even compared to current gen cars.

Besides, its about the money...what other car will save me around $300/month? Thats like 1 Apple stock a month. In 5 years those will be worth at least 2x what they are now. Not saying I'm buying Apple stock, but you get my point. For a commuter car I could give a **** how little power the car has, how much ******* power does a stock miata have...and how much times does it spend in turns vs in a straight line.
And as much as you might try to fight it, even with a turbo a miata looks pretty ******* gay unless its killing it on a track.
