Just broke up with my gf just before the 3 month mark. A work fling that turned into a fast moving relationship. No bueno.

Nice girl but it really made me realize that I do not want to date a drinker/pot smoker. Nothing like having to constantly take separate cars, be in different rooms during smoke time, be left outside while the party smokes or having to be high before you can do anything. Serious eye opener for me.

Also a stage 5 clinger. Started the I love you after a week. Talked about moving away with me when I left for the army (sorry, but living/moving with someone you hardly know is a huge no-no in my book).

All good though. New it was the right thing to do since I woke up the next day and wasn't even remotely sad.

My sister's ex bf back in dental school was Canadian. For 4 years, he received parking ticket after parking ticket in San Francisco with no intention of paying them back since he would be moving back to Canada after graduation. One week before graduation his jeep got towed! He had to pay thousands to get his jeep back.

I got a parking ticket in Arlington on March 14th, my court date in the end of Sept. I can't wait.

the steps to even get a court date in Arlington is retarded. You have to fill something out online, and about 10 days later you get a form in the mail. the website and form caution you that they'll tack on an extra $60 to your fine if you lose in court; trying to discourage you from doing so. Then in another 10 days or so, after you snail mail your court date request to a different state altogether, they finally give you a court date months in the future. Meanwhile, the city actually sends "bills" in the mail. I think I saved one, I've got two so far. They look like regular like city fees of sorts (like utility or personal property), but it's for your parking ticket.

Plane tickets are purchased, I'll be back in Hiroshima in June for a month or so. Helping the in-laws move back to Fukuoka to be with the rest of the family. Father in law is showing signs of Alzheimers and can't work the farm very well anymore.

On the plus side, there's an upGarage about 3 miles from the brother in laws house. Maybe I can find something "mad JDM yo."

I never realized how much disassembly it takes to get to the fan of a laptop. I just spent the better part of the afternoon basically taking apart my whole six year-old HP to replace this $9 part. I think it might literally be the hardest part in the laptop to get to. Wound up with a couple of extra screws when I was done, but everything works again, and for the first time in 5 years my computer no longer sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Should've done this a long time ago.

I admit, it seems a lot simpler once you see how things go together, but I had literally never seen one apart before. Had it not been for trying to keep track of all the stupid little screws, it would've been easier. Going into it, I was expecting an easy-access panel like you get for the hard drive, and once I realized that wasn't the case, I was into it far enough that looking for a how-to online wasn't practical anymore (because my computer was in pieces). 20 minutes is impressive, though!

Try replacing the keyboard on a macbook pro; that is a scary evening. You have to pretty much disassemble the entire laptop to get to it since the top half of the shell is what all the components screw into.

Plus, Apple uses the shittiest ribbon connectors in the world and they fall apart if you breathe on them wrong.

One thing I was impressed with on my HP was the quality of all the connectors. They came on and off easily, I had to do it repeatedly (because noob dis/re-assembly) and they put up with it just fine. For such small, multi-pin connectors, they really work extremely well. And this is on a computer I bought in 2007 and has seen a lot of (ab)use.

my Asus laptop is probably the cheapest POS known to man. I'd rather have one made by Fisher Price.

This is one of my tangential job responsibilities as well. I absolutely love older Thinkpads for their ability to be disassembled and serviced. In fact, everything up to the T430 isn't really that bad to deal with.

The new T440 series are a whole another ball game, god damn thing comes apart like a cell phone and all the clips break unless you are really REALLY careful. I think Lenovo finally stopped using IBM engineering in their design process and everything has gone to ****. We bought a bunch of sexy new Lenovo X1Carbon laptops for our executives and we've have had a 40% failure rate out of the box. ******* outrageous for a $2500 laptop. I've been sitting on an RMA for 6 weeks now for the last one.

We may jump ship on Lenovo and look at HP or Dell here pretty soon.
