I installed a fence, neighbor installed sprinkler system. I'm now drawing up my yard to give to my cousin who installs sprinklers, so we can layout a better system.

I have no plans to buy a bunch of soil, dump it throughout my entire lawn and spend the next 2 days raking it through the entire grounds so my nice green lawn is now pure black just to one up him.

I'm currently renting and gave up on my lawn almost immediately after moving in. I keep it watered to keep it alive, but I have no motivation to do anything beyond that. My next door neighbor is retired and in his late 70's. He spends at least 3~4 hours a day shirtless working on his front lawn, liver spots and all. I mean, good for him for getting out and doing stuff, but I'd be out there too at his age if I was married to his wife.

you sure it's not compost? that'll help bring worms up which will both aerate and feed the lawn.

We did that here at the office, straight up bullshit.

No seriously, it was steer manure. Smelled like hell but after 2~3 days of watering and whatnot it integrates completely. It did wonders for the landscaping.

I just saw bags of black mulch and yellow bags, I think miracle-gro brand, that appeared to by potting mix, or garden soil. I couldn't quite tell. there's no smell so I'd be surprised if it was compost or manure.

I've jsut never seen anything like this done before. doesn't seem smart to completely cover up blades of grass, that's like running a home on solar power and burying the panels.

Composted cow manure does not stink at all. My customer makes it and bags it.
