Why is it that everything we get in the states that's a FWD econobox is available in Europe as an AWD turbocharged monstrosity?

problem: traction
solution: Europe

On the bright side, they (supposedly) pay like 4x for many of the parts we get here

It's a conversion out of a CX-7. The MS3 is normally a FWD here as well.

I can dead hook 25psi through the front tires of the MX6. Probably can't flat foot it mid-corner, but it hooked 2nd better than the old 95 Miata did.

Being able to fit a good amount of tire does wonders.

So Lexus based their design on a 1991 Tom Swift novel?

Interestingly time-consuming.

I find it puzzling that, when looking at the Hudson river between Newburgh and Beacon, it shows me a private pleasure craft the Hannah B, but it does not show the commercial passenger vessel West New York, which operates in scheduled service as the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry.

This also makes me curious as to the mechanism by which such private vessels communicate with whatever central tracking authority (presumably the Coast Guard) is the aggregator and supplier of this data. It's admittedly been many years since I sailed the Carribbean as a child, island-hopping for weeks at a time aboard my uncle's private yacht out of Fajardo, PR, but I'm quite certain that we had no satellite uplinks, only a set of charts, a magnetic compass, a sextant, a clock, and a radio.

Protip: when typing "ferry" into google, don't make the mistake I did and type in "furry." Especially at work.

AIS operates on VHF and is only required for commercial vessels of certain length/tonnage/cargo type. However, I do believe that private operators may choose to install a system for safety reasons if they'd like. The exact requirements are rather lengthy, but can be found on the USCG website.

Excessive Oil Consumption Isn't Normal - Consumer Reports

" Audi, BMW, and Subaru stick firmly to the statement that oil consumption is a normal part of a carís operation. Subaru considers a quart burned every 1,000 to 1,200 miles to be acceptable. Certain Audi and BMW carsí standards state that a quart burned every 600 to 700 miles is reasonable. "

And that's even for BRAND NEW CARS !!!

I have a Borrego, a Sportage, and a 2010 Miata that go 10,000 miles between changes on Amsoil 5w-20 without needing added oil. The Borrego is at 110,000 miles.

I arrived at these oil change intervals with Amsoil 25K oil and testing at Blackstone labs to make sure the oil was not degrading.

I agree that a quart every 700 miles is excessive and unacceptable. 1200 miles is in the realm of annoying. My STI burns a quart every 2000 and I can definitely live with it.

Lol I work at Toyota and can attest to those 2AZ-FE engines being extra thirsty. Sometimes they'll come in for servicing and the oil pressure light will be on. Only about a quart of oil left in the engine
