I had to wear one for a couple of months after my metatarsal fracture. Definitely a pain in the ***, but surprisingly, I got pretty good at working the clutch with it.
Jeans outside the boot. I had trouble using the break on the way home from the orthopedic because the clutch and break being so close and the boot being so wide. I removed the thingie that you can rest your foot on to make some space, and now I think it shouldn't be a problem.
I haven't signed anything yet. I'm still sitting down with all the branches and going over jobs, school ****, careers, blah blah blah.......I know I shouldn't be complaining, but I thought it was going to be easier for me to make decisions on this stuff.
Basically, it's a toss up between the Marines and Air Force. I'll either go EOD or Crew Chief and most likely work my way into some special forces unit. I'm getting to the point where I need to make up my mind, though.
Sorry again about your ankle, bro. But look at it this way, we might see each other at the island I'm sure the DI's will love the fact that we both drive miatas
Thanks, the ankle isn't that bad, it doesn't hurt very much or all the time and I'll get to see my brother for a few weeks longer since I'll be delayed some more, he might even get to IT me some which would be cool.
I've thought about what might happen if a DI finds out what I drive, I'd probably just get "messed with" for a bit. My recruiters seem to like it, they asked if it was fast and I said "No, not in a straight line but it goes around corners pretty fast", they said it's "serpentine" lol.
If your worried about spending a lot of time in the DEP, I found out it depends on your MOS. I talked to a guy yesterday who is doing his 60 day pre-ship and just signed up a month and a half ago, I've been in since May or June and my original ship date was February the 6th.

My mom just had to call me and give me news to spoil my relatively good day. My aunts next door neighbors 13 year old son killed himself last night by hanging, on his 13th birthday. Poor kid. I can't imagine how devastated the parents must be. My aunt has lived next to him since he was like 4 years old, and saw him almost every day, I can imagine she is pretty tore up as well. I've seen the kid a good bit. He was always a little on the hyper side, nerdy and awkward, so I can imagine he might not have had many friends. But he always seemed like a good kid, just a bit sheltered. Damn. A 13 year old kid, just seems strange seeing such a young suicide. I barely knew the kid, but it makes me wish I could have somehow known about his problems and tried to talk to him and help him resolve them. Last time I saw him, we played a few matches of Rockem Sockem Robots.

I normally wear a size 14 shoe, so I had the "Extra Large" ortho boot. It required a bit more precision than usual, but I didn't have to modify anything on the car.
The hard part was the two months when I wasn't able to bear any weight on the foot at all. For that, I raised the idle on the car to 1,500 RPM and simply worked the clutch with my right foot. The clutch took a lot of abuse during that time period.
I didn't have much pain before the boot, walking was no problem. Now with the boot, its more painful. I suppose the foot is setting like its supposed to now, luckily I can still walk on it.
Just lost the battery for our steel bender on the side of the road and blew one of the tires. How? I have no idea, but I'm guessing it has something to do with it not being towed in probably 2 years. So here I sit on the side of the road and the inspector is going to be on the job at noon and I haven't even got there yet.
Ohh well at least it's Friday. Lol

one time i was on teh side of the road cause my alternator died, a cop proceeded to stop and call a tow truck for me (before cell phones).
Then he decided to put out flares for some odd reason. It was on the highway on a desinated pull-off area thank god, bright sunny day, well away from harm.
well he didnt put them far back form my car, it was windy, one knocked over and rolled under the car where it proceded to puncture a tire. I'm lucky it wasnt worse.

You know, with all the time I have spent in Manhattan, I don't recall that I have ever had Manhattan clam chowder.
Hell, I don't even know what it tastes like. Tomato-based, I assume?
