acutally one of the best fish I've ever eaten. Worth all the trama I endured from bludgeoning it to death before fileting.

But it did honestly taste great from all the dioxin and bleaching wastes of the paper mills upstream!

Real (lazy) talk:

I am doing "motoman's" quick break-in procedure since it seems to be super recommended by the machine shop here in town, and supraforum... but I dont believe the oil recommendation. It says use conventional over synthetic, but my arguement mentally is that motoman knows how to build motors and ****, but doesnt know what synthetic oils REALLY are. My opinion is breaking in with synthetic is just as healthy and safe or even safer than conventional, since synthetic in simple terms a reformulated oil to handle heat and stick to the metal better.

Also my broke *** happens to have my quakerstate full synthetic in 3 5 gallon jugs on the shelf that I need to use up. You gays think im fine just using my synthetic as the only substitute to the procedure?

The basic argument I've always heard is that synthetic oil, being "too good" of a lubricant, will prevent the rings from seating as quickly / well as they would with cheap, monograde, non-detergant conventional oil.

No idea whether this is true or not. I don't recall ever having seen evidence to prove one way or the other. That being said, you should be changing out your initial break-in oil rather soon anyway, so why not buy a few quarts of cheap SAE-30 and throw it in?

I would trust the engine builder. The guys that are primarily Supra shops are probably extremely knowledgeable and do many, many motors each year.

I've also heard that conventional is the only oil you should use for break-ins. Don't risk it because you're a cheap ***.

I just filed my federal taxes. Now to just wait till Jan 22nd for them to start processing them. For state taxes I am still waiting on them to finish the online filing system so that I can file those electronically also.

Wow. I assume you don't have any 1099s and did not need to wait for a year-end W-2?

No 1099's and my W-2 is electronic. As soon as I got my last paycheck for 2012 I had access to my W-2 so I filled out all my taxes then. I had to wait till Jan 3rd for state taxes to be finalized and then had to wait till Jan 10th to actually file. I really want my cash back so that I can use it for part of my down payment on a house. So I am hoping that getting it all in as early as possible helps me get my cash back fast.

In the meantime, you can pimp out your mom a bit more if you really needed the extra cash.

$26.50 an hour does not bring in to much unfortunately.

The "Model S Effect": U.S. electric vehicle sales hit record high in December. Yesterday, the Electric Drive Transportation Association reported that all-electric vehicle sales (those without an internal combustion backup) hit a record high in December: 2,704 vehicles, up nearly 500 from November and more than double y/y. A substantial component of that growth came from the Tesla (TSLA) Model S, deliveries of which began in June and are ramping to a target annual production rate of 20,000 vehicles. While still relatively paltry compared to traditional hybrid sales (43,690 vehicles) and even plug-in hybrids (4,965 vehicles), pure EVs constitute the fastest growing subsector of the EV/hybrid market - which together made up 3.4% of new U.S. vehicle sales in 2012. Of that amount, 3.0% were traditional hybrids, while 0.4% were plug-in hybrids and pure EVs.

hey gays, how bad can oil be blown around during driving to fool me to think my car is going horror movie and look like its dripping from everywhere? I just broke in my 7MGTE (and I can say if feels AMAZING!!) but I have the oil leak woes.

I figure it couldnt be the head gasket because my exhaust is clean burning and no smoke what soever and my coolant hasn't changed levels or shown bubbles, am I wrong about that? By the procedure im supposed to check the head bolt torque after 200 miles, but I may do that much much sooner if I can still get a massive oil leak from it, if it is possible without coolant leaks or smoke.

My thought was anything that has RTV somewhere leaking massively in one spot that is being blown around, I just wanted to see if it still could be the head gasket.

Anyways, the power of my overhaul totally trumps what I was dealing with before>
It definitely has much more power @ 6-7psi than my 12psi setup before. Once I get those embarrassing oil leaks dealt with, ill get some awesome pull videos.

Edit after hustlers post: I did finally fold and spent money on some cheapy valvoline, which I am happy i did now, because its hershey squirting on my damn garage floor

I like the idea that aside from quick-mart oil, there is a dino and synthetic option. As I understand it, all oils at this point are hydrocracked Group III in some capacity and Group IV oils are more expensive and do not out-perform GIII oils.

Yay...I finally have my car back. Two+ months and it feels good to have a ball and stick in my hands to play with while driving rather than sitting back and having no control.

I just wish it wasn't raining so I could wash and detail her. Maybe tomorrow.

It's kind of weird that I can now buy an off-the-shelf thing to plug into my PC which yields floating-point performance measured in teraflops.

Also, we have come full-circle back to the early 80s, and are now once again plugging co-processors into the general expansion bus.

So come to find out I have close to 100 old shop manuals sitting down at the shop that are worth anywhere from $20-$50 a piece!!

Plus I found a random folder last week full of pictures and letters from 1890ish to the 1960's, mostly having to do with the Cavanagh family.

I swear I find my best stuff by mistake.
