I wish there were random cats that would rub against me in my house.

Haha.

On the plus side, thank you for reminding me of the name Encyclopedia Brown, as it reminded me of the derivative parody "Wikipedia Brown," which I've been trying to remember for several years now.

This one is funny: McSweeney’s Internet Tendency: Wikipedia Brown.

This one is an object-lesson in qualifying your sources: Wikipedia Brown and the Case of the Captured Koala

Alas, it was in fact an actual cat that wondered into my house last night. She wasn't wearing a collar, but looked well-fed and clean. Probably just a neighbor's cat that decided to go exploring. Still, when you are not accustomed to being rubbed against by warm, furry things late at night while minding your own business on the sofa, it's pretty freaky to have it suddenly happen.

Similar situation happened to me many years ago.

Location: a hunting camp, out in the woods. Very isolated.
Situation: after a long morning, seeing no game, I came back to camp. It was unseasonably warm and sunny. I sat at a picnic table, leaning my shotgun against the wall of the cabin some 15-20 feet away.

Suddenly felt something like a large cat walk between my legs. Startled the heck out of me - no cats in these woods. Turns out it was a rather large raccoon. Behaving strangely (being out in the open in daylight, for one), and seemingly oblivious to me. My shout of surprise did not distract it in the least.

Father -in-law came out of cabin after my shout. Saw the raccoon. Stated "it's rabid, shoot it!". But my gun was between me and it, so I hesitated. FiL (who carries a single shot hunting pistol) proceeded to shoot it. We buried it on the spot.

I suppose that there are any number of potential explanations (teleportation, astral projection, spontaneous generation, divine intervention, etc), but the most probable scenario is that it walked in through the front door.

Also, FunnyJunk hotlinking fail.

I have a cat door, so my cats can come and go as they please without begging for help. Basically, anything that will fit through the door comes in my house. If they don't cause any trouble then I don't ask them to leave.

Anyway, I currently have a feral cat living in my house. You know those cats that live out behind some factory or something, somebody puts food out for them, but nobody can get close to them? He's one of those, and he lives in my house. Seriously NO trouble. He's better behaved than many of the pets I've had.

He doesn't pat my face in the morning to tell me it's time for breakfast. He doesn't ask for anything. He used the litterbox once (that I know of) but it was during a hurricane. Otherwise he goes outside. I don't even have to clean up after him. Zero maintenance.

I don't expect people that live in blue states to understand why it's all cool, but it is.

No cat doors, but in the summertime I typically have all of the doors and windows open whenever I'm home. The back (sliding) door has a screen, but the front door does not. We don't have much in the way of flying insects, so it's not a big deal.

I have had both a hummingbird and a roadrunner come inside and make themselves at home, but never, to the best of my knowledge, any large mammals before last night. (The hummingbird, surprisingly, was a much bigger pain in the *** than the roadrunner.)

To be honest, the thought had never even crossed my mind that a cat / dog / coytote / whatever would have any interest in coming into my house.

I had a hummingbird feeder for a while and they always let me know in a very impolite tone when it was empty.

A few years ago I had a little wren come inside. It was winter and very cold out. I assumed that it discovered the warm air at the pet door and decided to come in. Didn't take long before it became agitated so I opened a window and it went back out.

One morning at dawn it woke me up flying around the house screaming. So I opened a window and it left. Same thing the next morning. On the third morning I opened the window, but instead of flying out it said "cheep cheep" to me (at least it seemed like it was talking to me) then flew out throught the pet door. It took me a few days to realize that it was coming in at dusk and hiding behind some books on a shelf. It would spend the night then leave at dawn. I don't think it spent every night that winter, but it was there many nights.

To answer the question that everyone asks: no it did not poop everywhere. Maybe once or twice I found a little evidence that it had been there, but nothing I couldn't deal with.

I had a wren come in a couple of times during the day last winter, but I don't know if it wsa the same one....

Jesus Christ ebay is stupid! This is the second time I've had to end my "auctions" and relist. This is my first time selling since they changed ****. Used to be that you could add a buy it now option, and set a reserve and let it go worry free. I didn't realize that had changed. Now you have to mark it as a set price, or else you'll be selling some **** at pennies on the dollar. I also didn't see a reserve option. Way to gay it up ebay.

Bad customer service (suburbs service):
Culvers - grilled cheese is done first, put in bag, then crushed by double bacon butterburger and two large fries
Dunkin Donuts - frosted donuts piled on top of each other without wax paper spacer, no napkins, large iced coffee with cream and sugar still has 2" of unmixed cream and sugar at the bottom

Good customer service (closer to the city service):
Culvers - grilled cheese done first, waits patiently, then is placed gently over a cushion of large french fries and double bacon butterburger
Dunkin donuts - frosted donuts separated by wax paper, resting gently on a cushion of napkins, iced coffee aggressively mixed and blended to my satisfaction

omg I hate when they dont separate donuts with multiple sheets of wax paper. Whats the point of a boston creme donut if all the chocolate frosting stays in the bag or the bottom of the next donut?!

Damn it car! Now it's doing this weird surge thing while driving down the road. I noticed it for the first time today. It does it both on and off throttle, in gear. It seems to stop however, when I turn off the a/c and/or fan. It does it the most at speed setting 4 (max). It's not bad enough to hear from the engine, but you can feel the surges. I'm thinking electrical since I've been having issues with the alternator, and charging system. Since I changed the alternator I've been hearing a whine that varies with rpm. I can't tell from what though. It sounds like the alternator is somehow causing a sound to come through from the a/c blower motor. Sounds sort of like when you have a bad spark plug wire and you can hear it in your stereo and other electrics. But in this case it does it even with stereo off, unless it's somehow strong enough to carry through the speaker wire and emit it through the speakers themselves. I've also been having the stereo randomly, and sometimes frequently blinking off for a second or two, then coming back on. I'm attributing this to the same issue.

I'm also still getting the same brightening and dimming of the headlights that I was before. I was blaming the alternator/voltage regulator, but apparently that's not it. Just driving along at night, any gear, at any speed/rpm, you can visibly see the headlights randomly getting brighter and dimmer. I've had several bulbs blow out from voltage spikes. Not sure what the **** is going on. My tracing skills with electrical gremlins is poor.

What does this **** sound like? Bad ground, though I'm pretty sure they are all good. I can't find any wires that look corroded or broken/grounded. I don't know what to do. This **** may be terminal, and what causes me to finally get rid of the ole girl. I don't have the time or money to spend tracking down these kinds of issues.

Congrats. Doing what? I wish I could get a goddamn job offer. Or get an offer and have the company actually follow through and actually hold up their end of the deal.

Basically a Level 3 tech in an IT dept for a home health agency. Specifically, I'll be setting up and running the inventory system for tracking their 900+ mobile devices that the PT's and OT's use in the field.
