Thoughts on the vacuum cups. I've contemplated making a bar to mount on the hardtop blocks (Miata) for front fork clamps, but don't have a good plan for the back of the bike(s). Thinking about the cup mounts on the trunk (if there is enough trunk, that is).

I really like them, have had no issues. You should be able to use the OTS Seasucker Talon with a hardtop, just put the front cups at the leading edge of the HT and there's probably plenty of room for the rear tire to sit on the trunk.
EDIT - This isn't the one-bike version (Talon) but gives an idea. Looks like you don't have to have the front cups as far forward as I thought.

I like the color combo.
School me on tubes. I need a recommendation on a tube to use inside my trainer tire (cycleops 23 on a 25 rim). I had a Kenda Butyl 700x23-28C from the LBS and this was my first time changing a road bike tire.
I did not have good luck. I am not sure if the failures are pinches or just chinese tire. The holes seem to be directly above a spoke hole. I'm running two thin rim tapes (added second after first burst)
*First burst was first pumping it up, it let go at 110psi (I normally run 120 on the street)
*I removed tire, added patch (rubber cement/thick rubber pad kind), reinstalled.
*Burst at 100psi. Removed, patched second hole, found a third bubble area so Added a patch there too.
*Reinstalled, pumped to 100psi. Did a 30 min interval workout.
*I'm folding up the trainer right next to the bike when BBPFFFFSSTTTT it burst, just sitting there, after the work out.
So What Tube Should I Buy?

Specialized, bontrager, or giant tubes are fine quality. Conti/zipp are the premium quality butyl tubes, but pointless IMO.
Should have sent you better rim strips. Sorry about that. That would be my first go-to instead of a better tube. Check the lbs for non-rubber rim strips. Lots of optoons out there from tape to pre-made poly ones. Velox works too for a trainer wheel.

Sometimes you can get sharp stuff imbedded in the rubber of your tire, too. It doesn't hurt to run your finger around the inside of the tire to make sure there isn't anything poking out.

Also, just like with cars, bike tires heat up under use and pressure increases. This is magnified on a trainer, so don't pump it up so much.
By the way 120 psi is WAY too much pressure to run on the street. I run about 90 front and 95 rear in 700x23c tires, lower pressure for bigger tires. I'm 155 lbs FWIW.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll get some better quality tape along with new tubes. This trainer tire is sooo damn stiff I have to use levers to get it on at the end. I even used a little WD40 the last time to try to make sure I don't pinch, which helped tremendously obviously.
After the 3rd install I left it at 100psi because I didn't want to burst it and because I figured it would get warm, and it did. But having it pop 10 minutes after I finished my workout was strange.
RE: 120psi on the street...initially I thought I was around 100 per the gauge on my chinese inflater. It wasn't until I got something of higher quality that showed 120psi (which is what my air compressor gauge said but that was harbor freight and assumed was reading high). I lowered to 100 and didn't like it as much, so I went back to 110-120. These are 23c's also.
I've hit some major pot holes this year, enough to bend the wheel slightly and no issues with the tubes

In colorado 110psi is about point of diminishing in 120tpi casing 23c tires. Higher than that and the tire cannot deform over road imperfections and ends up bouncing instead of 'gliding' over them; slowing you down. Your roads may vary, but 100-120 is commonplace. I run 140psi in 24c tubulars. .
C'mon Tim. No folding bead road tire is too-tight to not get on with just hands. Use your thumbs and thumb-pads to push the bead up and over. Also make sure the bead is sitting in the rim channel as you work it atound the rim.
Tires should last 500-1000 miles ish. Depends a lot on tire, as well as conditions. Some rock hard tires last 1500+. But I wouldn't want to ride on crummy hard rocks for that long.

On my commuter with 28mm tires on fairly wide rims, I run 80 psi.
