If FEMA had the bicycles, would it fund Hustler's manlet bib?

Stigmacho got it's own Stages meter today, lol. It's quickly becoming my daily-rider, Evo is the "fast group ride and race bike" now. I'm not sure how that happened, hopefully just a phase.

Decided to take a long ride into downtown Philadelphia yesterday. The ride there was good, but I have to say I hate riding in cities. Yes, people are more aware of cyclists, but the roads absolutely suck (my rear wheel went out of true), and everyone is so busy trying to get around cars there's never a clear path for me to take unless I cut between stopped cars in traffic. Also had some idiot stop short in front of me, Ultegra brakes did a nice job keeping me out of the guy's rear window but I still bumped into him right before I came to a stop. Probably won't be riding into the city in the near future. Also got lost in the ghetto on the way home, thankful I got back without any holes in me. I wonder if my Ruger LCR would fit into one of my jersey pockets....
In other news, one of my friends has an old Garmin 500 with a busted screen. He's been using an 820 for a while now and had the 500 sitting around, so I'll be inheriting it for free and once I pay Garmin $90 to replace the screen, will have a nice unit. I also talked to my local LBS to see if they wanted someone on fulltime as a manager since that's what I do now, but instead he offered to bring me on 10-20 hours a week in the winter to teach me how to build and maintain bikes since they just re-won the contract to do service on all of the bikes for Philadelphia Police and will need more people on. I'm really excited at the opportunity to learn how to work on bikes, and the discounts that come with working at a bike shop seem pretty insane. I think employees for TREK dealers get 30% off COST one bike per year.
Trey, that bar tape is pretty trippy lol

The new Diamond Backs ignore that a rider, particular a non-elite rider, spends very little time at 0° yaw. Anybody under about 200lbs is going to have a hell of a time handling that in a even a slight crosswind. I predict failure in product and gone from the market in 2 years.

I thought the bar-tape was more "80's hip-hop" than psychedelic. It's awesome though, could not help but purchase.
The tire's I'm rolling are huge:

Anyone live in Nashville, TN; Memphis TN; Richmond, VA; or NOVA/DC? I may travel with the GF on a sales road-trip, bring the bicycle. Not sure if it's worth it from a logistics perspective.

Hey guys, so I inherited this Garmin 500 for free. It's probably going to need refurbishing by Garmin which costs $90 since the display right now is totally dead. I have a few options
1. Refurb the 500 for $90+shipping
2. Buy a Garmin 800 for $180 including shipping
3. Trade in the 500 and Garmin will sell me a 520 for $240
What would you do? I don't NEED the mapping features, but they are nice to have. Got lost in some shady neighborhoods the other day, was sketchy

I'd spend the $90. Google maps on your phone is not comparable to the garmin 800. Maps on the 520 is just there to show you a course, you can't create routes or reroute on the fly. If you are off a preloaded course, it will just say "go north". That said, i was the only one in my group on the century (~12 guys) who had the route loaded, and it was nice having the garmin tell us where to turn (& distance/direction to next turn/to finish/time to next turn/finish...etc)
The worthwhile things I use on my 520 is the strava live segments (already foo-fooed by people here) and Running-centric connect IQ apps 'cause I also use my 520 while I run. My wife likes the lifetrack, not sure if that's available on the 500. I also used it to control/run a warmup workout on my smart trainer on one of my road races, but that wasn't worth the effort. The 520 is still a little buggy and the auto firmware updates are a pain in the ***. Nothing like being all ready for a ride, turning on the 520, and having to wait 10 minutes as it loads new firmware and restarts.

My girlfriend is doing a sales-related road trip to these cities and I was thinking of tagging along. Aside from DC, any recommendations on fun stuff to do or see in Memphis, TN; Nashville, TN; or Richmond, VA?

Probably a long shot but if anyone here wants to sell, or knows someone who wants to sell, a set of Shimano Dura Ace C50 9000 wheels in a clincher format, I'm interested in a set. They have good hubs, the rim seems strong, and they have an aluminum braking surface. I would prefer something a bit wider, I believe they are 22.4 external, but I guess aero rims are mostly made for 23c tires and not 25c. Best price I've found so far on a new set is 1335
I did find a set of HED Jet 5 used for 650 but passed up on them.

I forgot to add the coda to the Shitibike saga.
(Not that anyone cares)
Just before leaving Manhattan, I found it. It was parked outside a Chinese restaurant on 3rd near 77th. I imagine that it's found a new life delivering food, which is as NYC as a bike can get.
