What's for dinner?
This is just beautiful:
The owners and executive chef of a high-end Tempe restaurant are trying to clear their plates of some controversy after their plan to serve rabbit on the Easter Sunday menu raised eyebrows.
Jay and Christine Wisniewski, owners of Cafe Boa and its well-known executive chef, Payton Curry, sent a letter to media on Tuesday explaining their choice of rabbit on a menu during a holiday that is in part symbolized by the Easter Bunny.
“The rabbits we serve in our restaurant are not domesticated bunnies. They are all-natural, free-range rabbits raised in humane conditions,” the owners said.
While the menu won’t be altered, the owners say there are a number of alternatives to the $65 prix-fixe meal that features selections including carrot soup, rabbit-liver mousse crostini; rabbit terrine with black truffle, celery root and parsnip slaw; ravioli of rabbit, local beet pasta, arugula-walnut pesto, local radish slaw and a prosciutto-wrapped rabbit leg, white truffle omelet and braised black eyed peas, with carrot cake for dessert.
The Wisniewskis say that game such as rabbit are a common menu item in Europe and other high-end restaurants across the country.
Chef Curry “selected rabbit as his Easter feature simply because it has come into season and is currently at the height of dining trends as indicated in a recent feature in the New York Times and also touted by internationally-known dining guide Zagat’s,” they said.
Cafe Boa adopts a slow-food concept that focuses on organic and local, sustainable sources for its meals. Its regular menu items include sweet pea ravioli, fettuccine alfredo, strip steak, lamb, duck and chicken prepared in with a variety of rubs, herbs and sauces.

^ I send my family buffalo or Elk every year and they send me sea food. I think I will do the reindeer thing next. That is awesome.
For the record too, I am one of these weird jerks who thinks that the way we handle live stock is cruel and generally bad. Personally I think animals should not be electroctued to death (that device in 'No Country for Old Men' was sweet and basically humane) or kept in pens tiny enough to encourage massive levels of infection nessecitating an diet of anti-bitoics that help breed beter germs. And I still like the idea free-range rabbit on Easter.
The Easter Bunny is about as far from the intended meanign of Easter as it gets anyway. And we eat a choclate version anyway.
I say they sneak rabbit meat into everyones chocolate bunny. Ha!

It is a remembrance of the sacrifice of Saint Peter, the rabbit who was chosen by Christ to speak for all Christianity. Christ knew that only a rabbit, and not a man, would be pure, tolerant, and incorruptible, and thus, rabbits were the leaders of the early church until the fourth century, when the Vatican anointed Pope Sylvester I (a human) and excommunicated all rabbits from the church, retaining only the ceremonial mitre as a testament to their power.

Dear Darryl,
I understand the importance the resurrection story holds in your particular religion. If I too knew some guy that had been killed and placed inside a cave with a rock in front of it and I visited the cave to find the rock moved and his body gone, the only logical assumption would be that he had risen from the dead and is the son of God. Once, my friend Simon was rushed to hospital to have his appendix removed and I visited him the next day to find his bed empty. I immediately sacrificed a goat and burnt a witch in his name but it turned out that he had not had appendicitis, just needed a good poo, and was at home playing Playstation.
Someone probably should have asked "So the rock has been moved and he's gone... has anyone checked his house?" I realise Playstation was not around in those days but they probably had the equivalent. A muddy stick or something. I would have said "Can someone please check if Jesus is at home playing with his muddy stick, if not, then and only then should we all assume, logically, that he has risen from the dead and is the son of God."
If we accept though, that Jesus was the son of an Infinite Being capable of anything, he probably did have a Playstation. Probably a Playstation 7. I know I have to get my offspring all the latest gadgets. God would probably have said to him, "I was going to wait another two thousand years to give you this but seeing as you have been good... just don't tell your mother about Grand Theft Auto."
Also, is it true that Jesus can be stabbed during a sword fight and be ok due to the fact that he can only die if he gets his head chopped off?
Regards, David.
