What started out to be a stellar weekend went to crap for one stupid mistake. Driving the Scotman's #68 SM I qualified for the enduro on the SM pole for the first qualifying session and wound up in 2nd in the final session. The owner qualified 3rd for the sprint and finished 3rd, but had a major oil leak. Turned out to be both cam seals- totally loose just spinning on the cams. We zipped tie the tbelt to the cam gears to keep cam timing and also avoid from having to remove all the other parts to get to the crank gear. Good idea until I leaned on the nose and moved the crank a tooth. I thought I had good tension on the belt and kept timing, bolted it up and the next day the race starts. Owner is yelling on the radio that the car's barely moving. We fixed the timing during an "extended" pit stop. Went back out and turned some qualifying times- so all was well. Oh well- the oil leak and timing are fixed.
