Greenies without a clue
I was at the gas station tonight. Nothing remarkable in that, except there were hand-written signs on the pumps indicating that the card readers weren't working. No big deal; go give my CC to the guy at the counter, and proceed to go fill up.
I go in to pay, and the guy swipes my card. He says, "46 hundred". I look up, and notice that the decimal point is missing from the display that shows the customer what is being rung up. I give a wan smile to acknowledge his joke, and he grins back.
Than the stupidity happens. The twenty-something behind me snorts, and says (quite nastily), "That's the problem with you people. My car doesn't use that much gas in a year! SUV drivers are all just selfish." The counter guy just rolls his eyes.
As I walk back to my Jeep, I look to see what this particular greenie is driving: a new Mustang. Not only that, but she left it running while she ran in for her iced latte.

I have no doubt that she was/is ignorant. That was the point. I also think she believes she's a greenie whether she actually is or not. That's the part that got me. Lip service is more important than actual conservation.
I pay for a sportsman's hunting license (pretty much any game animal) every year, in spite of the fact that I only hunt deer (big game can be bought alone for much less). That alone makes me more of an environmentalist than most people. Where do they think the money comes from to manage wildlife?

I buy used furniture, used tools, leftover/scrap building materials, etc. I shop at thrift stores, Salvation Army, Goodwill, Value Village, etc. Craigslist is my own personal department store. I'd say I'm pretty "green."
[sarcasm]Surely I jest! I simply MUST eradicate my home of all the perfectly good, functioning items, furnishings, and finishes to replace with something made of a slightly more "sustainable" material to be truly green. True "sustainability" and "greenness" comes from replacing everything, right? [/sarcasm]

I love that people think we can/are destroying this Earth.
