Miata's not the only thing I mod...
So I was talking to some friends online about Surefire flashlights and one of em posts this:

Holy **** is that bright. And it works!!! I got raped on the batteries cuz I didn't shop around, but they can be had cheap.
Yesterday at the FFS dyno, someone happened to have a Surefire and it really paled in comparison to my modded flashlight. LOL
1 Eveready flashlight - $3.94 Home Depot
1 KPR112 Krypton bulb - $1.39 Radio Shack
3 Duracell 123 3v Lithium Battery - $26.02 Walgreens
I'm such a geek.

a cool idea, but I use my flashlight everyday for doing layover inspections.....I'd eat up $16 dollars in batteries a day......
The SureFire's are nice, but way overpriced, Their primary customers are Police and Military.
StreamLight makes a great flashlight, it's rechargeable, the bulb doesn't cost a mint, and If I drop it into a bucket of Skydrol (Aircraft Hydraulic Fluid) it won't melt.

It's not hard to find a better deal. Take a look at Surefire's website - $1.75 each.

BTW, I was at HD today and I picked up another flashlight for the mod. lol

That's a great idea for something cheap to have on-hand during an emergency or just something around the house.
I've got an Inova X0... bright as ****, takes 2 of the batteries like in the video... except it's LED, so no worries about the bulb breaking. Plus, it's bright as ****. I use it about 10-15minutes per week preflighting planes and what-not. Batteries last me about 6-8months. I've got rechargable ones... so no worries. I bet the RadioShack bulb eats up batteries though.
