What to get a girlfriend of 4 years for the holidays?

I know my GF would love the Spa certificate and I might default to that myself considering the condition of her toenail polish at the time.
I'm in a bind myself. I've bought jewelry in the past for girlfriends but I need some advice. Diamond stud earrings are the norm, so are journey etc diamond pendant necklaces. I don't want to spend over $300 within reason. The earrings she buys for herself are all dangle style, except for a few pairs. That makes me think she would dislike diamond studs.
A nice necklace would be prime but I'm having trouble picking something out within my price range.
Anyone recommend a specific jewelry retailer? Maybe a necklace that you bought and really liked the quality of.
I just need to hit up a jewelry store or 10 I guess.
Then again, these are $170 shipped right now on sale with free shipping and they have good reviews.

Wowzers. Not that she looked bad in the tuning thread, but whoa. I agree with the waiting for the ring btw. My GF loves to cook and has a really nice Shun chef's knife. I'm getting her a bread knife as it's about the only thing she's asked for, besides a Kindle which her parents are getting her. She got me a "I am the Stig" t-shirt. She told me about it since it's backordered till some time in January from England.

Unfortunately $300 won't buy you a lot of diamond. About 10 years ago when I was a poor grad student I bought some 1/2 ct. t.w. earrings for about that much at a brick & mortar jewelry store. The things is, jewelry stores usually have intense halogen spotlights in the ceiling so everything looks nice and sparkly in the store, and when I opened them up at home I noticed a particularly large inclusion in one of them that I didn't see under the blinding light. Technically I wasn't ripped off because the grade did fit the price, but it was a learning experience. The woman didn't really notice or care of course, and she still wears them all the time because they were the first jewelry I bought her.
When it came time to buy the engagement ring I dropped my coin at Blue Nile. I wholeheartedly recommend them and didn't find anyplace else that offered better quality for the money. But I just looked and their only diamond necklace around $300 has just 0.05 carats in two little chips and you're paying mostly for the weight of the gold in the pendant. Their 1/4 ct solitaires start a little over $400. If you think she'd like stud earrings they do have 1/4 ct. t.w. in white or yellow gold settings for $275-315 depending on princess or round cut. FWIW I'd feel better buying stones from them listed as SI1/2 than I would taking my chances at the mall. Never hurts to shop around, just keep in mind that with diamonds you are never going to get more than you pay for.

If you go to a jewelry store give them your best sob story (preferably to the owner/manager). I got my wife's engagement ring while in university and ended up with a really nice ring (0.26ct but ridiculously sparkly) for 25% off the sale price and no tax.
When we announced the engagement her aunts were all over the ring and then complained to their husbands about their tiny not as nice rings. The best was the look I got after the "...but he's in school you got me this when you were working full time..." comment.
BTW I got engaged after 5 years then had a 2.5yr engagement, people were wondering when it was going to happen with us too. Knowing what your getting into isn't a bad thing.

No ring, she does rock, but i have no intention of getting tied up for a while. She knows this and is totally cool with it.
She does have a nice *** too tho, i cant complain.
Thanks for all the ideas y'all, really helped a fellow out!
