If you could find Sub2000's for under $300 (like you should if they'd make enough), I'd not only have a 9mm and .40, but I'd have another Glock as well. My 2 BOB's would each have one, and a G27 would back up my G17 for just about every scenario I could think of.

A .40cal fired from a 16" barrel makes about 1500ft^sec and 700ftlbs... not too bad, but hell, a .357 from a 16" barrel makes 1000-1200ftlbs.

You should completely sell that frame to me.

I should, but I snagged it for like $80...one of these days I'll stumble across a G17 upper for $250, add a couple mags and lower parts for $50, and have a kickass comfy Glock for under $400.

Hustler, Buds has a bunch of MP15's in stock.

If you qualify in any way for the S&W Nations Finest discount, the absolute best deal in AR's right now is the MP15-OR for $750... $650 after discount at BudsPoliceSupply. I've got a Taurus .38 up for sale on a local forum, and as soon as it sells, I'm getting one.

Nope, not vet status for me so I get full price. I'm probably going to now plan on picking-up a 9mm carbine and a Ruger 10/22 this year, not sure which order.

If you don't mind the magazine limitations, the HiPoint is the only choice.

For .22 semi-auto's, it's hard to go in any direction other than a 10/22... so much aftermarket love. However, the current crop of .22lr AR15 solutions is pretty impressive, whether you go with a dedicated upper or just a conversion.

If you want a bolt .22lr, pick your favorite flavor of Savage MKII.

My complaint about AR .22's is most of the magazines SUCK.

I liked the Colt M16-22 of my friends, partially because of the magazine they supply:

My CMMG conversion uses these magazines:

After the second time loading them I don't feel like shooting it anymore. Then BlackDogMachine came up with these:

That won't fit ANY AR I've access to. Disassembled it to see why they won't fit, discovered they're too thick. Split down the middle it was simple to run it down some 500 grit sandpaper until it'd fit. Ran one magazine through my recent build and was satisfied. Since then I've attempted to use it again however the gun jams about every 2 or 3 shots. Won't eject the spent casings and it'll stovepipe or jam the bolt from above. Very disappointed.

I noticed this on the MP15-22 range gun I shot. It was like the bolt didn't have enough weight to get the first round to chamber properly.

Is there a more desired center section on a 10/22 or are they all the same. Right now my plan is to get the cheapest one I can find since I'll probably mod the hell out of it.

Older ones have fewer plastic parts.

I don't know yet. I'm still resisting the idea of buying the cheapest one I can find for just putting one together with good parts from the start. However, I want to keep this well under $1000. I don't need an adjustable trigger, just a good trigger. I don't need a $400 butt, a $99 will get me there. This is a "fancy-pants" style build.

If you really want to pimp out the important parts of a 10/22, why not just start from scratch?

ELITE22™ BILLET PRECISION MACHINED REPLACEMENT 10/22® RECEIVER by:

Tactical Solutions Barrel Ruger 10/22 22 Long Rifle .920 Diameter 1 16

TRIGGER ASSEMBLY COMPLETE BILLET PRECISION MACHINED FOR 10/22® &

Good fire control group is $200, receiver is about $200 after FFL fees and ship, believe that Tacsol barrel is $225. That's not the entire rifle, but for $650 you've bought top of the line operating components for a 10/22.. Just add whatever stock you want, magazine release, scope base, etc..

Speaking of 22's, I've got one of these in my immediate future:

All that ---- is too expensive. I'll get a Green Mountain barrel for $140, Boyd's butt stock for $100, $75-max scope, not sure about the rest. I need to get all this ---- before the next weapons ban.

Wasn't really sure what you were trying to accomplish, so I took a wild stab.

10/22's are safe from their "weapons ban" ------ree, long as it doens't have a *gasp* "high capacity" magazine or a pistol grip. ------- injudicious idiots.

I really like the Boyds thumbhole stock I made fit my Marlin 795. I haven't bedded it, but for the distances I've used it so far, its really enjoyable to shoot.
