today was a good day; then my buddy decided to end the night of shooting with a bang.... literally. The bastard had tannerite hidden away in his box-o-goodies n' ammo.

I've never heard anybody complain about DPMS complete BCG's that go for like $150 (or less)... a stripped carrier for under $50'ish?

It depends on whether we're making your guy a deal by taking scrap off him above his scrap cost, or he's doing us a deal by selling us parts at a big discount. Perhaps a little bit of both since most dudes don't need top-shelf parts for "projects" or spares.

I'd be in for 3 in the $40 range... call it 3/$120 shipped... 6/$200? You could fit 5/6 of them in a USPS small $5.60 flat rate box. Is that crazy?

I mean, that sounds good to me, but they are not my parts. I'd be down for 6. I'd get myself a couple, and my brother would want a couple, then I'd want a couple spares for future builds. I'm certainly not going to be reselling anything. That price point sounds fine for a blem stripped carrier. Would be extra nice to get blem bolts/gas keys/cam pins and things though. Maybe there is another couple buckets of blems in the shop?

After some more homework, looking at old group buys in forums, asking some buddies, and digging around, that's too much money. Actually, $20-$25 is more like it.

Stopped by the local Dicks on a whim after lunch at the local Irish pub (after an "official" business function where I shot 104 totally sober).

Picked up 2x 325ct 22lr Federal Target Grade 40gr solids for $20box... and 3 boxes of 12ga 1oz slugs just because. I almost missed the sign they had up about only being able to buy 1 bulk pack per customer... saw it... guy at the counter was about to say something until I handed him my mil ID along with my credit card. I don't normally wave it around, but not feeling guilty about it this time.

That's not just any .22lr... it's 40gr 375ct bulk pack round-nose made SPECIAL for use in semi-autos and marketed at the same price as 550ct packs of the same **** in hollow-point which are more expensive to manufacture.

Again, I H8.

I love modern technology. I'm out on a Navy ship in the Baltic Sea, and just ordered a 10pk of D&H mags with my CC... should be there when I get home.

For anybody who has been contemplating purchasing an AR, but just don't have the cash or isn't "sure" or whatever... for ***** sake, now is the TIME!!! AIM has production stripped lowers for $100 shipped, and PSA has COMPLETE LOWERS with their Classic Lower Parts Kits for $199??? WTF are you waiting for??? Since I only buy guns with cash, I've gotta wait a week until I'm home and home those complete lowers are still around... prob gonna buy 2. Worst thing that can happen is that during the next crisis, I sell them for $500 each.

Learning about the AR is next on my list.

I settled on a 9mm for me and finally got it a week ago. S&W 1911 Pro. The Roco grips look nice and feel great but are very fat, .375" at the center, which is about .125" thicker than standard grips. Too fat for my hands I think...I remember the random 1911's at the LGS feeling more natural. I'm going to order some Raasco grips in standard and slim thickness once I decide on a color, but again that may take months.

Like everybody, I think I've always loved the look of the 1911... perhaps the most iconic semi-auto pistol ever... but alas, I just have no use for one. If was ever going to do it, I don't see how I could pass up a plane-jane 5" Rock Island standard in .45acp. But truthfully, if I wanted something bigger than 9mm, I'd just step up to .40. It would be easy enough to step up to a Glock 23 for my all-around gun, and leave my G19 in the wifes nitestand. Now that costs are coming down, I am going into penny-pinching mode on other man things until my gun needs are met.

Additional AR, or perhaps sell my M&P15 and build a couple identical home/urban defense pieces.
Ruger American and/or Savage10 bolt-gun... ideally I'd like 2, one in .308 and one in 30-06.

Additional semi-auto pistol... again, G23 is almost a certainty.

And I'd like a second 12ga pump... nothing wrong with my Mav88, and since they're $200, done deal.

Yup, 2 pistols, 2 shotguns, 2 AR's, and 2 30cal bolt action rifles... pretty much set for all my gun needs. Throw down for some .22conversions for the AR's and Glocks, and I'm all set for training. I'm got about half the stuff I need to reload, and am looking for deals so it's taking awhile.

Also, since we just stepped into hurricane season and there's already been a tropical storm and 2 other crazy-*** storms, I need a generator, water purification, cycle my spare gas tanks, extra food, gotta break out the chainsaw and run it, plus maybe buy a wood chipper, fix some planks on the deck, clean the gutters, secure some loose decorative shutters, do an attic survey, and a few other things... gonna be a busy week when I get back from Europe.

Picked up a new Colt LE6920 Magpul today. Can't wait to get to shoot it.

It also has a forword grip, just have to figure out how to get it on, looks like I need a special tool.

Need more of these stories, without the obvious smear attempt:

Man shot attempting to rob group waiting to buy LeBron James sneakers
By Andrew Rafferty, Staff Writer, NBC News

A Georgia man attempting to rob a group of people waiting in line to buy LeBron James' newly released sneakers was killed after one of the men he was robbing pulled out a gun, according to Atlanta police.

The group was waiting in line early Saturday morning to buy the LeBron X Denim sneakers when a man approached with a gun and attempted to rob them, according to police. Witnesses told authorities that one of the customers had a concealed weapon and shot and killed the man.
NBC's Atlanta affiliate WXIA reports that the man stayed in line after the shooting. No charges have been filed against the shooter, and the investigation so far has backed the man's claim that he was acting in self-defense. He also had the appropriate permit to possess the gun, WXIA reported.
The new sneakers cost $180 and are being sold online for much greater than their retail value.

Wow, just a few days shy of a month for this thread... can't let that happen again boys.

So. Since I'm married and my wife is from Canada, I don't get a lot of love on the whole "gun thing". She's tolerant and appreciates the concept of firearms, but has no interest. I did manage to get her to take the NRA Basic Pistol Course with a few girlfriends earlier in the year, but she felt that was more out of necessity since I insisted that she learn how to use at least one gun.

And keeping in mind all of that, you can understand that my gun expenses need to be carefully considered since I have to steal from my own paycheck to pay for everything.

I've updated my new "short list" of stuff to buy, so here goes:

Sell current S&W AR and use proceeds to buy identical PSA basics.
Maverick 88
Mosin M44 or M38.
Remington 700 .308
Ruger 10/22.
Ruger MKIII
Glock 23
2x Crimson Trace for Glocks
2x Eotechs

I've got about $500 in the kitty, and am selling the Nikon P223 scope I bought a few months back. And I just found about $150 in Euros I thought I'd lost. And I figure my change jar has about $150 in it. Probably sitting on about $1000 and will be buying something big shortly. OH, and also have $150 Amazon card.

I browse the PSA site daily and saw this today... full-auto chrome-lined BCG for $99 (I give no ***** about blemished)... bought 2. Next purchase in a month or so will be a couple of their complete lowers, hopefully still at $199.

Sign of the times... at least this is conclusive proof that mag's are back to normal prices. And since I've seen bulk Pmags on sale for $10ea, I'd say this is pretty much proof that everybody who wanted a ton of mags have bought them over the past few months and the only people interested in mags now are those buying their first gun. In the next few months, we may see mag prices drop even lower.

Ammo isn't exactly back to normal... but you can find brass 9mm all day long for .30rd... every week there are visible price drops across the board. Still waiting for reloading stuff to come back down, but the current trends are great signs.

C-products are good stuff. I have 20 of them... $8ea.

Sam, what are the before sandy prices for 9mm & 22lr? I have yet to fire either of my pistols or buy ammo.

I did get my replacement raasco grips today for my full size 1911. The first 2 pairs did not clear my ambi safety lever on the right side. Emailed him asking how to polish the wood after sanding. He instead sent me two new pairs free of charge, nice!
