Yeah, I've been talking to Corey. Planning to get it over to him in early April actually. I just need to get it running well enough to get it up there. Mine has a 1.6 turbo tune on it from the previous owner. Same turbo, bigger injectors. Theoretically I should be able to re-scale for my injectors and set up the TSE trigger wheel and limp it up to Slowmotion. Just haven't had it long enough to get it going yet. Or figure out how to "re-scale". As soon as I finish this water pump install (thanks to "hosspoons" for the parts!) I'm gonna start messing with it.

Those Illuminas work out for your friend? I can't remember his name.
They tuned it when they built my motor. I am messing with this bp4w swap now because the motor they rebuilt started knocking 1200 miles in. I didnt have a very good experience when i dealt with them.
Corey seems to be able to make power, but my car never idled or wanted to refire when warm. Corey told me my issues were inherent with using aem...?? w/e

If its logistically possible to get your car to Toledo, go see the guys at Pure Tuning.

The illuminas are another story. They sat installed on my car, with the dead motor, in my garage all last year. Darren(my friend) and I co-built another car to autoX with using my coils/sways/wheels and tires along with a $400 rolling chassis and 2 different junkyard motors. That car with me driving won our "csp" class. We ended up selling those illuminas to another club member around christmas once the season was over and i got all my parts back. He's going to go with something a little more hardcore now

Yea. It got toned down after the first event when that first motor blew up. It sounds great on gopro footage but obnoxious in person.

Hmmmm,

That scares me about Slowmotion. I contacted them on the recommendation of Sam Halkias - SCCA EP champ. However he drives an NA TR-6.

I have heard nothing but good stuff about Pure Tuning. Maybe I will chat with them before I make a final decision. Corey told me he would like to keep the car for a few days to make sure it made power and had good driveability. I never got my MS1 to idle as well as I thought it should (batch-fire only I think was the issue) and it wouldn't start well hot no matter what I tried. The whole reason I bought the AEM was for better driveability! The MS would suffice if all I wanted was WOT!

Dude, it was the car in your sig. Maybe you were at the restaurant. It was out in Lafayette, next to the Red Brick Tavern September, October, maybe? Maybe it wasn't your car then, dunno.

Well, that sounds worse than it was. I got it pretty driveable overall. It just had some lag and hot start issues in July. I got it to acceptable just never really great.

If you're not looking to go to Toledo for a tune, there's a few places down the street from me in Lewis Center (half way between Worthington and Delaware). IPS and Pickups Plus do tuning, I just don't know of any Miata's first hand at either of these. I know IPS is tuning just about everything and Pickups Plus tuned a friend's Mustang GT and GT500 with nice results.

I'm thinking about stopping by IPS after getting my car out of storage to get the car on the dyno to get the tune from about 90% to 100%.

I've not heard a lot of good things about IPS. I'd sooner trust Corey after our conversations. However, I trust Dan's opinion so I'm going to ponder Pure Tuning, too.

I WAS talking motorcycles. So you didn't know about the cool little museum next to the Red Brick? Sad to hear they closed the dining room. They still open as a bar?

Actually the miata club is meeting there tonight for dinner

In Marysville here, I've been miata-less for a while now but used to have a 95 that was turbo'd.

Still have most of the homem made turbo kit sitting around. Was just thinking last night I should probably try to sell it...

Thanks man, I'll be sure to hit you up if I ever need some help. We should definitely get together though. I too am in fear of a late Ohio winter.
