texas miata challenge 2010

Im in for this, I have not posted much on this board but hopefully I will be competing in the street class, my only question is advancing the timing considered an internal engine mod?
My stats look like the only things that will be giving me points are..
180 treadwear tires +2
Change to factory suspension +2
torsen +1
exhaust moded +1
Intake +1
lightweight body panel.. (seats and mirrors and removal of some things) +1
putting me right at 8 points.
On a side note, this allows me to run Nitrous, will this be allowed for our competition?
Thanks,
Kris
p.s. sorry for newbness

I wonder if any of the NASA TA crew are doing this, or if it is allowed? Surely it has been considered, maybe even tried.
Normally it would be pretty useless for road racing. And, we are probably not talking about huge drops in lap times anyway. In fact, as a road racer, I somehow feel a little dirty even talking about it in a semi-serious manner.

what tires are you running? ra1's or kumho's are 100 treadwear r-comps.
lightweight body panels are dry carbon hardtops, door panels, trunklids etc...
your seat and mirrors don't warrant points.
and no timing doesn't count for internal mods.

HA! I was just wondering about this on the way to work this morning. As I understand it, TA is about your fast lap. So, when you think you have a good lap going, give it some on the straights. It would be fun at least. Hell on an LS1, even a mild shot could mean another 100 HP. That would be cool at TWS.

personally i wouldn't care, but it would count as an engine mod. like a turbo or supercharger, or additional if you already had one or a swap or something.

Awesome man, thanks, but in order to stay in the street class and still have a chance I will run Star specs (200twr) falken Azenias ( 210) or Khumo XS (180).
With a 35 or 50 shot for straits, as long as it is allowed.
I could be wrong on the treadwear ratings I got them off tirerack.com

the kumho's would be second. my friend has some and they are good, but the feel and breakaway characteristics are better on the dunlops. basically you feel more confident and safe on the dunlops and they're easier to drive.

nitrous is not allowed with nasa. you won't pass inspection with a nitrous bottle. now if you could hide everything and put the bottle in after inspection...............
