My grandfather was an advocate of "being thrown clear of the crash". Until he was "thrown clear of the crash." He survived and went on to advocate wearing seatbelts.

We'll have to disagree. It was completely inappropriate for the prius to take that action. She's not a cop. She's just another jackass. She slowed that truck down to 9 mph in the fast lane, creating a dangerous situation for everyone behind them. The truck driver was inconsiderate. She was dangerous.

Put youself in the truckers shoes, the truck on the right lane was going 1 or 2 mph slower the white truck that was probably going as fast as it could to make the pass but between the hills load difference between the trucks ( that would slow the white truck more going uphill) and the speed governor (most company owned trucks have them) it was just going to take a long time, the truck on the right should have slowed down for 30 secconds to speed up the pass and people in cars just need to be patient.

If I put myself in the truckers shoes, then I know my rig cannot possibly pass another one going UPHILL. I know all about my speed limiter and I also know where my mirrors are located. These people drive for a living, so they have the least excuse of anyone on the road of not making safe or timely passes.

^Yep. Trucker is being very passive/aggressive and trying to play it off as he is an innocent victim. I'm guessing he has an inferiority complex and doesn't feel like he has enough control over his own life so he overtly imposes his will on others.

Reminds me of when I first moved to Miami and learned to wait a few seconds after the light went green before proceeding.

There must have been a lot more carnage that subsequently occurs off camera if there were truly 27 killed and 88 injured.

EDIT: Here's another camera angle on it. (BTW, this is actually an old crash that occurred in SA back in 2013)

Notice the pedestrians in the crosswalk at 0:08 !! DAYUUM!!

Cool.

Homeboy should have sued for being given a car with worse-than-stock tires in a performance environment, endangering his life.

Default Car split down the middle, driver still seated behind the wheel

An accident on Highway 101 in California literally split a car down the middle, leaving the driver still seated behind the wheel - injured, but, incredibly, alive.

"The scene was, it was pretty intense," Sgt. Jason Bahlman told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Bahlman has been a trooper for 16 years. "It was definitely one of the most severely damaged cars I've ever seen."

Former Air Force ambulance driver Tom Bond witnessed the crash and videotaped the aftermath. What he saw after the collision happened and the air cleared of smoke and debris was "the craziest thing I've ever seen, and I've seen many accidents."

According to the CHP, Apol Lansang, 26, of Sonoma, was driving her Chevy Impala south on Highway 101 around 8 a.m. Saturday when a northbound Toyota Sequoia driven by Kevin Fenty, 27, of Huntington Beach, crossed the center line and struck the Impala head-on on the passenger side, sending that half of the car into an embankment and leaving the driver's half sitting on the roadway with Lansang in it.

She had only minor injuries. Fenty was ejected from the Sequioa, and yet he also had only moderate injuries, CHP said.

Bond's video shows passengers of other cars approaching the wreckage to help the injured.

"I was shaken," he told the Press Democrat. "I mean, my family is still shaken. I drive that stretch every single day. It is so dangerous."
