Thought I'd throw this out on here to prove I'm not an internet racer.

This video is one of my better runs of the day, considering I was on street tires.

My rear swaybar was still attached (car was setup for drift. removing the rear bar keeps the car more stable on lift) and I was on spent 205/50/15 azenis. I had a real hard time keeping the rear of the car under me and still try and be fast, yeah I know... go figure. I ended up just trying to anticipate the corners and set them up earlier with a slip (okay some where full lock slips) I have a bad habit of lifting too abruptly during weight transfer or braking too deep. I wasnt too disappointed however, but I'm faster than I displayed that day. The last few months I've been co driving an 06 MX5 CSP on 265 wide 710s so I guess I got used to the tires biting more and finishing near FTD. I'll be on fresh R's; Hoosier 225/50/13 rear/ Kumho 710 215/50/13 710's front, for the rest of the season and the bar will be off. My front has gobs of bite and never had a problem with it giving away.


I may participate in a drift event at the end of the month, If I do, I'll try and get some video up.

I've always wondered how the guys that do that don't get lost/confused in that parking lot of cones....is it a lot easier to tell where you're going from inside the car?

Tokico blue shocks/springs, poly bushings everywhere, racing beat sways. Tight VLSD. Alignment is 0 toe on both ends and 2*-ish camber all around. I want to take some rear camber out as my tires are wearing too hard... maybe from too much oversteer induced cornering. I've raced a few different platforms over the last 5 years, and this car has the best turn in.




That event was on a HUGE taxi way at an airport, not a parking lot. That surface is about 1100' by about 500'. At any rate,when I design a course, I take out almost all but necessary cones and add directional cones to aid navigation. A sea of cones sucks for a new driver. Moreoever, we encourage walking the course until your feet hurt and we do a parade lap led by a seasoned driver.
When driving the course at speed, the "events" each gate or slalom, run together and it become very very overwhelming. New drivers get lost alot, and we do what we can to correct them.

It makes sense, yes. Just to add to Boostcreep's response, you will probably get lost if you refuse to walk the course, but walk the course a couple times and you'll know where you're going. Take your first run at, say, 4/10ths and get a feel for the course. If you go off course you'll find out why from the control booth.

Sounds like a headache, I know, but you'll be ok.

Edit - Boostcreep, I saw the mountains in the background and thought they looked familiar and then later noticed you're in Sierra Vista. I did an autox there in my OTM at the highschool when I was stationed at Huachuca. Small world, eh?
