I don't know how miatas are but on one of my hondas I tried everything you did. I even used the weight of the car dropping the car, with a hydraulic jack, on a breaker bar and also tried using the starter to crank the motor over with the breaker bar wedged between the crossmember and the firewall and it still, in the end, wouldn't come loose. Broke several sockets doing all of this ha.

I had to roll my car over to my neighbors house to get some help because I didn't have air tools at the time. He had a stout impact wrench that wouldn't take it off either. In the end I had to get an oxy acetylene torch to get the bolt red hot then hit it with an air gun to take it off. Spent more time trying to get the bolt off then I did on the rest of the timing belt job.

Sometimes the locktite they use from the factory, or the last mechanic, is stuck for good unless it gets hot enough. So it may be time to invest in a cheap map gas torch or get access to an oxy acetylene setup, but then again I hear a lot of good about those crank tools.

You bought the FM Crank tool? I bought one about a year ago, and it has been amazing. Well worth every penny spent on it.

I'll keep this in mind in case the tool I ordered fails to do the job.

Put a 6 point socket on the thing, attach breaker bar turn engine until breaker bar touches frame, get in car bump starter, there you go crank bolt loose.
