Default MT Newb!

Hey everyone!

I've been around on the other forums for quite a couple years (more-so as a lurker) but am now venturing into the turbo side! I've actually been piecing together my own build for a couple years now.

I was actually almost done with a GT2560r, FM manifold, FM intercooler, MSPNP2, etc. in a '99 when I bought my first house and had to register for emissions.... -_- I even had it running! I just bought a '92 to swap everything in to for the lack of emissions and decided to re-do quite a couple things as I felt I half-assed a some stuff along the way.

Thanks for having me.

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located?

Put your location in your profile so it shows under your screen name when you post. There are probably members here local to you that can help at times.

What are your plans for the car?

Ah, that I can do!

Black car is the '99 that everything used to be in. Was originally a bone stock automatic california emissions car with ABS. Currently a federal harness with no abs. I don't have a current picture but the one I do have is from a couple days ago while tearing it down. It is now basically an empty shell..

White car is the '92 I just picked up. In the pictures, nothing has been done to it. This is exactly how I picked it up minus the APR GT3 mirrors and some cleaning. Plans are this Thursday to completely gut it, excluding sub-frames and control arms until I get an NB set powder coated and put poly bushings in there. Once gutted, I want to have the engine bay sprayed as the rest of the car can be done whenever.. I just really don't want to tear the engine bay down again just for paint. Fit NB harness and swap everything over.

Sorry the pictures are out of order, lol.

Thank you! I'm located in Dacula, GA. I'll update that right after this post.

Here's what I already had in the black '99 that will be going in the '92....

-Fortune Auto 500s gen 4 coilovers
-Jongbloed 15x9 fitted with Nitto NT01s with maybe 50 miles on them.
-NB 6 speed, new front and rear seals, rebuilt shifter with OEM parts
-949Racing twin disc clutch and flywheel
-Type II Torsen with new axles seals, delrin mounts, NEW OEM rear axles
-95.5-97 block rebuilt with OEM parts by previous owner, supposedly has 10k miles under a '99 head
-RB hollow front bar with 949 end links
-Flyin Miata rear bar
-FM upgraded intercooler and silicone piping
-GT2560r
-FM manifold
-FM outlet pipe
-FM downpipe
-MSPNP2
-Innovate LC2 wideband
-BEGI coolant reroute
-RC550cc injectors
-Warlboro 255

And some other stuff I can't really think of at the moment.

Just a few days ago I had the both surfaces of the manifold, hot side of the turbo, and outlet pipe machined. Currently, my new square top manifold, cold side of turbo, and a few other odd parts are being powder coated silver, and the valve cover powder coated matte black. Manifold, hot side of turbo, and outlet pipe are being ceramic coated matte black. Last night I wrapped my downpipe with DEI titanium heat wrap. Once fully gutted, the NA will be fitted with a different NB harness as I want to do a better job with my wiring (IAT sensor, wideband, etc). Plan on putting in the NB heater assembly, A/C delete tube, and NB blower motor, all with NB dash and HVAC controls, Nexus 7 install running MSDroid for the MSPNP2 all in a gutted interior. Figuring out how to make a harness for the headlight motors should be interesting...

Just ordered...

-TurboSmart VTA
-TurboSmart MBC
-Flyin Miata Setrab oil cooler kit
-Reinforced front sway bar mounts
-Singular Motorsports ECU bracket
-FM turbo heat shield
-Inconel studs (300zx) for the head to manifold, manifold to turbo (and resbond)
-Stage 8 locking hardware
-1.6 to 1.8 throttle cable adapter

And some other odds and ends I may be forgetting.

One thing I am currently unsure of, is the coolant route I'd like to do. This time around I'd like to retain the heater core. I got the following idea from a current pre-order/group buy found here... https://www.miataturbo.net/miata-par...r-91675/page2/

Using that mixing manifold, I'd like to do this...

Does anyone see any downfall to this setup? I would have -10AN fittings welded to a new NB aluminum heater core, with an adapter on the outlet of the heater core to reduce it to -6AN, then to the turbo.

The turbo will restrict the heater core flow and the total flow when the thermostat is closed. I would let the heater run unimpeded and source the turbo's water from the back or front of the head.

Edit :
Didn't realize Dacula was in an emissions area.

That's what I originally thought as well. I got the idea from the OP of the group buy I mentioned in my previous post. Someone else asked about the same thing and someone stated this..

What's your take on that? What if I drilled out the jiggle pin?

Here is a better picture of what I'd like to do...

Option #1 would have a hole drilled where the jiggle pin is while Option #2 would have a larger diameter hole. Maybe could work?
