iīm new in this forum.

my name is rainer, iīm from germany - aachen city near the border to netherlands/belgium.
about 80 km from the nuerburgring

sorry for my bad english, my skills arenīt the best and itīs sometimes a bit hard for me to read/write

my fun car is a 91īMazda MX-5 1.6 with 116hp (similar to miata, but witout airbags and rear licence plate holder are bigger)








my daily car is a 95ī Mazda MX-3 V6 133hp.

my big problem is ... i donīt know whot to do with the little car
my B6D engine is knocking and it got too less power.

so the way is ... 1,8 na engine with na tuning (cams, flywheel, exhaust, high-comp pistons, ...) but this will cost a lot and the output is not so high.

or 1,6 replacement engine for less money (~200bucks) and go for turbo baby ^^

but which turbo... theres more then sand on a beach
engine management would be a DIYautotune.

the miata is greate to drive, i love it. but bevore the miata i got a nissan 200sx RS13 (its a 240SX coupe with a CA18Det engine stock. and mine got stage2 @ 250hp - topspeed 260km/h on autobahn) and a Mazda RX-7 FC3s Turbo II coupe.

so iīll read some projects here and hope to find a answer of my question (damn man whot should i do... NA or TURBOOO) ^^


do some like to have some german licence plates? i heard some US boys like to have one.

Welcome.

There are a few turbos that are sized very well for the 1.6L Mazda. You can learn to plot on a compressor map to try your own, or take the tried and true recommendations like the T25 from the Nissan SR20 which is a perfect, quick spooling and torquey street turbo on our cars, still capable of ~220whp.

2554 is weak. A low mount tubular manifold with a .64 2860 will put some lead in your pencil.

Also, your English is not bad at all. You at least use the apostrophe correctly. The same cannot be said about a bunch of fucktards that waltz through on and off.

What is you power goal?

yes the T25 is a good choice in my opinion. for testing only i can use my oil-sucking T25 from my ex-200SX. but the most ebay turbokits using T3/T4 flange.

T28 is toooo much for good driving. on my 1,8 CA18Det the T28 spools @3800rpm and then it kicks good with around 1 bar

mhm my power goals are around 180-200hp. the car should be good driveable for the eifel/nuerburgring. a little bit downhill touge

Yeah I'm bias to bigger turbos. I love my kick-in-the-*** 2870 , but in Miami every road is a straight away. A T25 is enough for your goal.

Also, you may be interested in looking up Braineack's set up. He's running a T3 on a 1.6 with a very good power-band. Just in case you want to try the ebay manifolds the Tacotaco T3 Cast is been recommended a few times.
