Ok, I' like the greddy kit. used... and for 6-700 bucks. $1300 just with the plan to replace parts is, not the way to go.

LOOK IN THE SELL ADDS HERE! THER ARE COMPLETE FLYIn Miata and Begi kits for that price. Intercooler and all.

That was the route i took my first time. it sang and went well.

I know everyone yells do this and that to everything before boost.

SCREW THAT!;;;;;;;;; BOOST FIRST!

If you don't have 190,000 on it. I'd boost it. If it blows, who cares. you can get a motor cheap.

The car already handles better than almost any car you get with aftermarket suspension.

Get some power, and then work your way up on the rest of the car.

My theory is...... How many days a year are you going to track???? How many days a week are you going to drive it??

Simple. make it more enjoyable for what you do most first and then.... Work on the track stuff.

Another thought. IF YOU DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT CARS... And can't figure things out yourself.... I'd stay N/A, and do track stuff first. The car will last forever and you will have fun.

Good Luck on your build.

^ exactly, I like the way you think... but i do have just over 200,000 on it, so i'm gonna do a compression test and leak down test at the shop and go from there... from what i can hear inside the car and at idle outside the car, the engine sounds pretty solid, but the compression and leak down will make or break the turbo idea for now

Just boost it till it blows up, unless you want to run 250-300 rwhp just get another stock engine for $500 from Japan that only has 30k on it, and run it!

How do you know the JDM engine has only 30K on it? And maybe it only has 30K on it but has been sitting in a container in a shipping yard for 10 years. I've seen a couple of these low mileage JDM motors, and they've all looked like ****.

One I've seen puked out so much rust and **** out of the cooling system that it killed the heater core. Buy an engine and rebuild it, know what you are getting.

Your in Cali. You have parts everywhere. those motors are dirt cheap.
I'd buy a turbo kit, and then pick up a good 160,000 mile or less motor for $250 when it popped up. that is if your changing it yourself. If you are paying somone, i'd probably get the best one i could find.

The thing I have found with these motors is, you can't go by milege after 110,000 miles.

I have had some miatas with 200,000 mile motors run like champs. and some with 120,000 miles smoke like a freight train on start ups, due to valve seals..

It would be best if you could drive the car or hear it run before the motor is pulled.

yeah i'd install myself, and i'll def build the engine up before a put it in... as long as i have the block crankshaft and head, i'll be good cause pretty much everything else would be new. i met a guy today with a supercharged built engine and i guess he said he's putting about 215-220 to the ground, thing sounded mean... but point is, built engine is def the way to go
