whats up? 31yr old guy in spring hill fl here, Ive been wanting a miata for some time now and finally took the plunge and traded my baby(06 cbr 600rr) for a pretty nice msm.

Its got an aem intake, begi inlet pipe, forge diverter, act clutch with a 10.5lbs flywheel, huge intercooler, flyin miata downpipe with full magnaflow exhaust behind it, slammed on raceland coilovers (im bringing it up as its my DD and scrapes everything), Halman pro MBC, crappy glowshift boost gauge and probably some other stuff im missing/forgetting.

Car runs pretty good and im trying not to spend any money since im broke as fuuuuuu, but I forsee an ecu in my future... not real sure but I def have plans for an aem eugo gauge and probably swap the crappy glowshift boost gauge for one thats not beat up(this ones scratched up on the magnified lense and stuff). I wanna put them in a FM pillar pod. ill get some pics up when i can get around to it but if anybody has some advice as far as ecu goes I would greatly appreciate it.

Im looking at possibly a mega squirt(hoping to talk to reverent on this one at some point as it seems hes the guy to get with on the subject). also looking to do a miataroadster short shifter at some point but they are so much $$$ any cost effective options(not cheap crap one) that can change the funny fifth gear searching/clunky getting into reverse in the stock setup I am open to.

Ok enough of my cries for help lol, anybody in my area that has a local car night/show,friends that chill and like to mod or whatever hit me up. the guy who previously owned my car was part of the tampa miata club I believe, east side miata idk some drift clubs or something I think. Im not real interested in drifting (but I like to learn new fun stuff) Id like to maybe try to get some autocross in around me but I wanna make sure the car is running right before I beat it up haha.

At this point I'm a rambling noooob but like I said hit me up if your in my area or want to be helpful as far as mods go, btw I'm told the car is making 205hp and 210 torque at 11psi. I turned the boost down to 9.5/10 because im worried about the fuel cut and general **** blowing up. The torque doesn't seem right to me hp claim seems like it could be close from all my reading.

Thanks for the tip, what do you mean by formatted? I read all the noob stickys and didnt see anything about "formatting". It seems to be to the point and includes the info im supposed to provide, please someone enlighten me without using a flamethrower. is it because I said im rocking a msm when it should have been "an" msm? thats a bit extreme but let me know.

I'm relatively local to you. and there are others on here as well.

The short shifter might not be a good answer because it will make the gears even closer together. Check the shifter bushings for wear or cracking. They are plastic and do wear out. They can make shifting pretty vague when they are broken or worn.

I am doubtful that your car put 205whp and 210wtq out on a dyno at 11psi on the stock turbo. And the stock ECU is garbage and should be replaced whenever funds allow. Reverent's MS is your best solution, so you are on the right track.

Thanks for the answers, I will try to work on my capitalization and such. I think I am very used to auto correct taking care of the "little things".

The short shifter, as im learning is not the great option that people say it is on CR but the pointers are highly appreciated.

I was told those numbers and I was pretty doubtful myself at least of the torque. The HP seems like it should be close to that as far as I have read but I understand the variety of HP claims is so back and forth that I wont really claim it until I know what it really is.

I did turn the boost down to what seems like 9.5psi but it has been hitting 10psi solidly the last week with the cold weather we have had. I really turned it down so I dont ruin anything before I get that uego and see where the fuel is at under hard boost.

As far as getting rid of the super low rice drop on the coil-overs, I am working on that as we speak. Ive got the rear done but those pics are from before I took the whole setup off to raise it. That is actually an inch higher than the previous owner had it in the rear and I haven't had time to get to the front yet.

I wont be able to shell out 7-800 dollars on an ECU for quite some time. I am beyond oblivious to any type of ECT tuning but I do understand that with that I will need injectors and possibly a different style spark delivery system if I do get an ECU to maximize the benefits. That makes this option far down the road for me

Is there an easy option to pick up a shift rebuild kit for the best price. I dont mind ordering parts separately or whatever. I heard that the NC dust boot is the same and cost roughly $13 versus the $25-$40 upper dust boot that is supposed to go on my 6speed.

I am planning the rebuild on the shift turret to fix any issues Im having, just trying to get prices in order before I buy the stuff.

I got my shifter rebuild kit from Planet Miata for about $100. Cheap enough to begin with, no sense in half-assing it.


Add in a 5X Racing aluminum shift bushing while you're in there.

That is the route I was going to go with. I was going to do the miataroadster delrin bushing instead though.

I played a lot of paintball for a long time and delrin seems to hold up better and perform a bit better than aluminum parts so I am using that as a basis for going with that option.

It is going to be another week or so before I actually order the parts (if I can hold out that long) plus I have a few projects in the works to occupy my time.

Mainly getting that suspension closer to stock height than the ground, Fixing/rewiring my windblocker for actual sound, and installing my pillar pod and relocate the boost gauge to it and add the aem uego to the car as soon it shows up in the mail.

As soon as thats all tied up I can probably put the time into the shifter rebuild and adding "all the dope neon lights to it I can afford...." Just kidding haha.

Welcome to the forum! Good job taking suggestions well, most new people nut up when asked to fix their posts.

If you haven't already ordered the gauge pod, this company sells full pillar replacements for just a few bucks more than the add-on pod that FM sells: www.gaugepods.com // Lotek Inc.
IMO, it's a cleaner look than a pod added on top of the existing pillar.

Crap, I ordered the stuff already and it was so expensive. Twenty dollars in shipping, that's not gonna happen again.

I like the look of the bar but it is basically crap. I am not a fan of the hard dog bars that everyone runs but I seem to remember seeing some double hoop design with a rear bar mount to the deck somewhere that looked decent.

So much to do... So little money to do with.

Yes, Hard Dog makes a double hoop rollbar that is track legal.
