New 95M Turbo...

New 95M Turbo...
Well, I got my hands on a 95M with an FMII (link) turbo. It is pretty clean for an old toy. Only 50K isn miles, it has an NB interior swap so a new cluster is in place now.
I know and work with the previous owner who has had the car since college. I am looking forward to learning and searching the heck out of MT.
I am located in SE Michigan and would love to connect with fellow MT people in the area.
My car is up and running, but there is always a lot to sort through when you pick up other peoples projects. I am new to turbo Miatas and an engine management dolt, so I will lean heavily on you guys for that.
I think i'd like to replace the link (with what I am not sure AEM or MSpnp) and get what I have all dialed in before thinking about moving forward.
Thanks for the great community you have built!!
-Chris
PS: i'll get some pics up asap.

Welcome! I'm in Ann Arbor or Flint, depending on whether I'm in school or not. If you're interested, check out A2 Car Enthusiasts on Facebook, we have car meets every Tuesday night at Gene Butman Ford. I'm running on MS2, so if you wanted to check it out and how that all works I can show you around it.

Welcome to the site.
There are plenty of us in SE Michigan running standalone engine management that have a pretty good idea of what to do should you ever need some help.

This is awesome!!
I am "running" a link with what can only be called a very base tune. Its safe, but far from a power maker and not as smooth as i'd like.
A local tuner suggested AEM, but it seems the miata crowd leans very heavy toward the MS.
At this point I just want to get with I have sorted out and running to the parts potential.
Thanks for the warm welcome.... I hope to be here a while and turn my lil miata into a fun lil monster.

I see you're an OG on xceed.
It all depends on what you want to spend on the ECU. I don't know any local shops that will even touch MS. But it's much cheaper and you can figure it out once they download a base tune. It's pretty simple. Plus it can autotune and all that.

Its a 95M with under 50K, Tien HA coil overs, HardDog roll bar, OEM Hardtop, XXR faux panasports, NB interior (I actually prefer NA gen2), FMII link, sway bars, I think thats it...
The car is mostly done, just need some dialing in and a few freshening bits to take some years off the chassis.
I'd like to get a spare engine to do a budget short block good for 250-300whp. Then pray for a trans solution. And my Dark side keeps points at N2 flares, because I am 14 years old on the inside.
All in good time, first I need to get it sorted out and running right... you know, be a grown-up.... that drives a tiny sports car.

Yup same car, I met Sam and Chris Lee years ago. It was Chris's car that made me want a Miata. I work with Sam and mentioned to him I was looking to get a cheap Miata as a fun DD. Well I assumed I couldn't afford his car but wanted his opinion on one I was looking at... Then he offered me his car for pretty much the same price as a mostly stock 1st gen NA. I couldn't pass it up, it needs a good bit of sorting but all the big stuff is there.
I really want to get what I have all sorted and running 100% first, then I can get silly with plans.

I wish there were other members closer to me. You have a good group in SE Michigan, there are some good guys in Indy, and I'm all alone in Pigsknuckle Indiana.
I like your car, good luck with tuning. Check out some threads by Reverant. He's the guy to go to for a solid MS3x.

lol, well I am a moron, but I wear it well
Good to hear about local support, a community can really make or break car ownership.
I want to connect with some locals who know what they are doing to help me "see" what needs fixing, better to stand on the shoulders of those who have learned the hard lessons.
Its a fun little car, I thought about selling it and jump into an S2K, but the darn Miatas have a charm that I can't ignore... plus I like underdogs I guess.
