So from what I've gathered searching, it'd be best to just turbocharge the stock engine and run it on very low boost, drive it that way from my small town of Abilene up to Dallas or down to Houston to get it tuned correctly for around 290rwhp to be safe, right? Couldn't find any info on longevity at that level on a stock engine tho. And I don't think I'd feel safe revving it that high without some kind of valvetrain work.

i heard somewhere that the imitation woodgrain was only available on a few miatas, all of which are capable of a safe 600whp on the stock internals.

the only problem is that direct exhaust injection is the only way to get there. however, if you do a search in the archives you can find some info about it.

;-)

welcome aboard. as others have said, mentally, shoot for low to mid 200's to start. you can get there easily on the stock internals for a pretty low investment financially. spend some time reading the stickies and whatnot in the DIY section, and ask directed questions from there.

whatever you do, don't listen to hustler.

We don't want to run you off. We just want to take you to the edge, make you look over, see hell for yourself, contemplate suicide, cry and cut yourself a few times, put one foot forward and then show up in just enough time to pull you back, turn you around, grab you by the shoulders and shake the **** out of you screaming WHAT THE **** IS YOUR PROBLEM so you would understand and fall in love with us.

Then we have cake!

That's all.

Hey Justin, how about you tell us what your GOAL is. You keep quoting a desire to spend an absolute **** ton of money to make your Miata do WHAT? Seriously, what do you want it to do? You throw out HP numbers like candy, but I don't think you have a clue what that kind of power will actually do, or why you need that number, and even way less clue how to get there.

So, how about telling us some performance figures you're looking for... start with a 1/4mile time. I'm telling you this because 300whp can be done on the stock block/head, but nothing else about the engine or any of the supporting hardware will be stock. 300whp in no way needs a $10k FM built motor, and needs almost as much suspension/tire/wheel/brake work as you need in the motor to put it safely to the ground. Stop telling us what you're going to do to the car when you have no clue, and tell us what you want it to do when you're done spending money... and how much money you have. Let's start there.

Oh, and only **** and douchebags like muscle-pictures of other dudes. No matter how proud you are of your bod, Myspace is not something that self-respecting adults do. It's for kids and dorks, so stop it.

First of all, I want the car to hug the road as well as my brother's s2000, and be faster (140 mph governed out and gets there quick), and make it safe with a roll bar. That's it. That's my dream miata right there. Preferably with an exhaust outlet on the driver's side right behind the front wheel. And I like to plan way ahead, won't have the money for this build for another 2 years haha that's how I planned my Civic build and it went smoothly with some forum help.

And as for the end of the last post, I am a dork ( a smart one) if you haven't figured that out by now but not a douchebag I am far from it . The main pictures on my myspace are results from a workout dvd yea that's something dorks do man and I'm proud of my results so I posted them up hahaha whether or not YOU or other dudes like them is none of my concern it's my friends' comments on my insane weight loss because I love to spar and fight that count to me.

Dude I'm not a tool. I just want my Miata to be nicer than my younger brother's s2000 because I can't afford one of those so I want to build the $7,000 miata with 50k miles on it for less than the 11,000 he paid for his s2k I mean come on he's only 17 and saved up 11,000 to buy an s2000 and I'm 19 rollin in a Miata? Gotta make my **** better. LMAO I know it sounds freakin rediculous but I'm serious on this build I really want to do it, have the means to but not the money yet, and would honestly appreciate the help.

Seriously I'm an honest guy and that's why I want to do this build hahaha I've built a Civic before so I enjoy building cars anyway but one-upping my brother's s2000 is something I really want to do and will enjoy doing it. Until he turbocharges it for 500hp bone stock..lmao but really guys come on I'm serious. Me and my brother are very competitive in the fitness and automobile areas but he has no mechanical kn0w-how he just saved up and bought a freakin s2000 so I want to out-build it.

I feel like I'm watching a sappy soap opera.....

an exhaust outlet on the driver's side right behind the front wheel <-- ******* hilarious!! just stop now, while you're still behind - go home

There's one very easy way to make your car faster than your brother's S2000....go out at night, while he's sleeping, and remove the drain plug from his differential. Then flush it down the toilet. Within 24 hours, your miata will be MUCH MUCH faster than your bro's S2000!!!!

Yea, the s2k practically hugs the road it's suspension is so perfect.

So that's where I'll be starting is the suspension. But to get to around 240hp all I should need is a basic bolt-on turbo kit, right?

No, learn how to drive first. Plenty of people here will account that s2000 get own in both track and autox events. Is not all about straight line and power.

Here's your hugging the road.

That red miata is exactly what I want out of my miata excellent road grip but I also want just a little more power than an s2000. I'll have enough money for some FM sway bars in a month or so that'll be my first upgrade I hear they're really nice and make a huge difference.
