I actually found an auto 1.6 Miata last weekend and snagged the throttle body. I only grabbed it because I have seen many of you talkin about it. Can someone tell me why its better?

variable throttle position sensor (if it has one) and if your engine management can use the signal

Here's the BMW TPS bolted up to the stock throttle body on my car:

Nothing to mod at all except for the wiring!

Its better because the TPS moves in a linear fashion rather than a on-off. Someone feel free to correct me if im wrong.

I hope you snaged the pigtail too..

Back from the dead. I went to the u-pull-it today. I pulled this from an Escort GT with an auto trans. I tried looking for pictures of the 1.6 5 speed Miata TB to compare, but no luck. Hopefully someone who has pulled one apart can figure out if it will work.

Here is how the TB plate connects.

Here is the sensor connection for the above.

The part#. This is a 4 wire sensor.

miataspeed; you'll need to swap over the whole TB assembly to use that vtps. That's what people do with the automativ miata TB/TPS.

And because the 1.8 and 1.6 TB are different it's a no go? At least that confirms it won't work.

I bought a Wells TPS thinking its the simplest route, guess what, its not. That was before I knew about the u-pull-it down in Detroit. But I still went ahead with the Wells and I'll post some pics later when I have the chance.
