Default MSPNP-Pro: PNP Standalone for 2001-2005 and MSM

After nearly 2 years of hardware and firmware development, I'm excited to announce the imminent release of 2 new MSPNP-Pro MegaSquirt ECUs. Yes, it took a long time to get these models to market, but the wait was worth it. These new models are fantastic. I've had prototype and now the production versions of this new PNP in my personal 01 for over a year now, and I've been testing the MSM model as well. They work amazing.

The new models are:

MM0105; Fits: 2001-2005 Miata (not MazdaSpeed)
MSM0405; Fits: 2004-2005 MazdaSpeed Miata

Both are part of our new MSPNP-Pro line, based off the MS3-Pro Module. The Pro is a highly developed version of the MS3, tweaked for more robust I/O, higher noise rejection, higher efficiency and lower power consumption, and adaptive (MAX-9926 based) crank and cam inputs. To further differentiate from MS3, Real time clock, DSP based knock conditioner, and 8-GB SD card are included standard (all available but optional on MS3).

Basic featureset:
-plug and play install, uses factory wiring and sensors
-supports high or low impedance injectors with auto detect and auto peak and hold
-supports sequential fuel and factory wasted spark ignition
-supports aftermarket sequential COP or CNP ignition, logic ignition outputs
-closed loop VVT control (MM0105)
-2 or 3 stage cooling fan control (MSM0405)
-On-board MAP sensor is 4-bar to support to ~44psi
-On-board 1-bar real time baro sensor
-amazing control of the Miata's alternator, including configurable voltage control and a few other neat strategies
-2 or 3-step rev limits
-multiple strategies for boost control, traction control, nitrous control
-open/closed loop EGO, supports common widebands
-feed forward a/c control with idle up
-datalogs to external laptop and/or internally to SD card (8GB card included)
-spare I/O for general purpose uses
-compatible with 3rd party race dashes, such as AiM and Race Technology.
-and much more

Install is "Plug and Play" with both models, using factory harness, plus an included MAP line.

ECUs are assembled at DIYAutoTune in Suwanee, GA. We'll have the first batch of about 20 total ready to go by the end of the week. I expect them to sell quickly. After that, the next batch is about 2 months out.

Price will be set at $1199, which includes the ECU as well as registration codes for TunerStudioMS and MegaLogViewer software, normally $59 and $29 respectively. We'll have both models listed on our website within the next few days.

It's the exact same size as the Gen 2 MSPNPs. 7" long, 6" wide, about 2" tall.

I have mine installed under the steering column. The customer-owned test cars that have been through here for installs have the MSPNP fixed to the OEM ECU bracket with a couple of zip ties. Same way we've been doing DIYPNP and MSPNPs in the 99-00 for the past several years.

The difference the MSPNP makes in the MazdaSpeed over the factory ECU is amazing. It's like a different car.

Dyno plot -- bone stock MSM Miata with 100k miles. Dotted line: Stock ECU. Solid line: MSPNP ECU. No other changes made. MAF still in place. No boost control added (stock IHI wastegate)

The difference in power and drivability is really impressive. This was the first stock MSM I had ever driven, and it frankly was dreadful on the stock ECU. It was a lot of fun after the MegaSquirt. It would really wake up with other bolt on upgrades (injectors, intercooler, intake, exhaust), and the MSPNP can be tuned to accommodate them.

The first batch of PNPs for the MSM are almost sold out... and not even posted on the website yet.

How does this compare to Reverant's MS3 Enhanced?

Also, what about guys that already have TunerStudioMS/MLV registrations?

Hey Ferdi,

I can't give a point by point to Rev's ECU because I don't where to find a spec sheet for it. As far as I know, Rev's ECU is based off B&G MS3 components. I think he builds a proprietary daughtercard similar to the MS3X board, but more custom suited to his ECU.

The DIYAutoTune MSPNP-Pro is based off the MS3-Pro module, not the old B&G mainboard or MS3 daughtercard. The MS3-Pro is a ground-up, fresh design that uses a much better switching power supply for lower consumption and much better noise rejection. The trigger inputs use the MAX9926 adaptive chip for better triggering. Because the pro has a cleaner power supply and inputs superior to the B&G stuff, it is much more precise. The I/O buffers are also much beefier. There are a ton of small improvements in the Pro design over the B&G design to make it a better ECU.

We also include the Real Time Clock and DSP-based Knock Input, including the proper licensing for both.

An 8GB SD card is included as well as back up battery for the RTC (not sure what Rev does here).

Registration codes for TunerStudio and MegaLogViewer are included as well. It is pre-bundled, there is not an option to remove them.

The MSPNP-Pro was completely designed in-house by DIYAutoTune, including board layout of all components by DIY staff. We have Mechanical and Electrical engineers on staff.

The MSPNP-Pro (and all other MSPNP products) are assembled in Suwanee, GA and include a 1 year warranty. Repairs are performed in Suwanee, GA if needed. Generally, these will be a stocked item, ready for shipment on the same day ordered. Customer support is currently handled by 5 full time personnel, during normal business days.

How many/what type are the spare inputs/outputs? Do they have their own connector?
