MSPNP / MS-1, Injector Test mode or simulating triggers?
The engine on my track car recently had a melt-down.
Built 1.9L, lots of dyno time and tuning.
Cyls 3 & 4 look to have gone very lean, which resulted in burnt/melted pistions.
The engine has been pulled. I'd like to test the fueling system as a whole, to check that the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and injectors are all working properly.
Is there a way to put the MSPNP/MegaSquirt-I into injector test mode, or to simulate triggers to it?
My plan is to fire all 4 injectors into separate containers, and to measure and compare the amount of fuel the each puts out during the test.

This would be easy to do with a JimStim and a power supply. You'd need to open up the ECU case lid (4 screws), unplug the main ribbon cable, and plug the stim onto the mainboard DB37 connector. The stim would simulate a tach signal to the ECU, which would cause it to deliver fuel.

If you want to build the stim youself and save a little money, we also offer it as an unassembled kit on our website.

hmm, been a while since I messed with MS, but pretty certain there is a bench test feature now. digging around for it. Pretty sure it will require a flash of that code. Or a dedicated chip with it loaded.
found it. This is a MS2 feature for "Injector Test Mode"

Using the stilulator is the other option as noted. That option would also give you a baseline flow of your injectors to your tune table.

Injector test mode is not available with the MS1.
It is something that MS2 and MS3 can do, but it only opens the injectors for a limited time (so you don't fill your motor with fuel) so may not be suitable for a "flow test".

Thanks Ben.
I have a StimBoard that I built for a generic MS-I a while back, and figured it would be a headache to modify it to work with the PNP. That said, it sounds like the JimStim is a good way to go.
Are there jumpers that need to be attached to work with a 96-97PNP, and if so, is that documented anywhere?

You could use a standard stim if you set up your MegaSquirt for basic trigger. Or you can leave your .msq alone and run off a JimStim. 4G63 mode would require a 2nd trigger input which is jumped to pin 25 on the stim.
