full stand alone MS&sE questions:
I talked to the guys at DIY autotune, and it will cost me $580 for a full stand alone set-up so I can just run some wires and be done.
I have a few questions for stuff I don't understand from the manual:
Do I need a variable tps...can't I just use map values to make the fuel tables with no maf?
-can I use a vw t-body which uses inverse values or throttle position?
(I did search, and I don't know if anyone is running full stand alone for this)
how do I trigger the fast idle for engaging the AC?
any other thoughts?

At the minute I've got Closed Loop idle working well enough that it automatically compensates for the extra load of the A/C

what do I need to do when I install th e99 motor? Apparently the hall sensor/cps is not on the head, and now on the crank...will I have to set up ms differently considering the funky 2 wire thing DIY autotune does?
I haven't seen the car yet since I work out of town.
would it be easier to just get a gm hall sensor and stick the magnets on the crank pully and make a mount for the pickup?

I'm reading the mega manual, and don't understand a few concepts...can someone please help:
why would I want more than one squirt per engine cycle, and if I had more than one, why not do the 4 squirt per cycle option...which is sequential injection?

Injections per Engine Cycle is set the number of squirts you want per engine cycle. You want this to be set so that your idle pulse width is no less than 2.0 ms, if possible, and your Req_Fuel is less than 12-15 milliseconds, but more than 8 milliseconds. These values allow proper tuning of the idle mixture while maintaining the ability to apply enrichments (acceleration, warm-up, etc.) under full throttle. This is the total injector events that you wish to occur for every engine cycle (360 degrees for two stroke engines and 720° for four strokes).
Injector Staging values for injector staging are simultaneous or alternating. If you want all your injectors to fire at once, select simultaneous. If you want half your injectors to fire at each injection event, and the other half on the next event, select alternating.
Note that with port injection, you must choose at at least 2 squirts per cycle with alternating injection, otherwise every other cycle for each cylinder will get NO fuel! The engine will run very badly.
There is some benefit to choosing 2 squirts/alternating for port injection, since only half of the injectors fire at once, the pressure drop in the fuel rails is reduced and the fuelling is more consistent.
With throttle body injection, the number of injection/cycle you can will depend on your number of cylinders, plenum size, Req_Fuel, etc. You have to experiment to see what works best for your combination.

is everyone here setting cruise afr's to something super lean like 16:1?
Any other good website that talk about tuning the ve table vs. the map? I'm still kinda confused. I don't really understand the concept of adding fuel for rpm, not constant with rpm, and the theoretical mass air stuff is counter intuitive.

Okays took a bit cos I'm lazy sorry
Hope this helps everyone. My Idle valve groaned a bit occasionally, but nothing major. I went to a lower frequency so it had more 'steps' to play with. Been a month(ish) now with no ill effects, and my mate with a LINK's Idle valve grans much worse than mine and has done for years!
remember to alter the TPS Threshold ADC value to suit your car
