Thanks man, its starting to feel like a long time right about now. Its so nice out and all I wanna do is drive my ******* car! lol

Well, seeing that I am outside pretty much 24/7, I needed to get something to keep me a little more comfortable, I already look like a indian. I went from being pampered and having a shop with air tools, benches, welder, a lift, you ******* name it tool wise......to outside in the weather. So this tent helps keep me a little cooler, esp at times like when I'm upside down under the dash soldering and its 100deg out!

Wiring is a mess but under control. Steering wheel and hub are on the way. And I'm hoping to be able to do the new radio and speakers while I have it all apart.

I just started the rear brakes today and found what I thought to be true. The rear brakes are a nightmare! So new rotors and pads for the front and now the rear, all done.

I got 10 hours into sanding the front bumper now, and about 5 into the rear bumper. I was also able to use wax to remove my overspray on the fenders, so I'm pretty happy about that. So far the bodywork is coming along.

TIP: I had to dremel my Moss A-pillar to get the Defi boost gauge to fit, then it was a little loose, enough to bother me. 1 little wrap of electrical tape, push it snug, and tuck away and seen tape with a flathead....******* perfect.

******* storm the other day was on its way, so I ran outside with some rope and in 8 different places, tied this ****** down. Started to rain, thunder, lightning, wind......storm. I was completely confident that the tent wasn't going to touch my car. WRONG! Water settled on the fabric and pushed the tent and its many metal legs all over my car. Just collapsed and put dozens of scratches all over the car and brand new CF hood. I happened to look outside while it was storming and saw what happened. I ran outside and immediately destroyed the tent. I went into a rage and snapped all the screws, plastic joints, you name it. Tent is garbage now, and the guy on ebay said it was user error. Another one is on the way, but this time I'm going to fold it up after every use. <end rant> I'm over it now, and the car is going to the bodyshop anyway, so hopefully they can take care of it for me.

Sooooo.......UPS came today with my package from gomiata.com. Momo wheel, Daikei hub, and my new smooth black Voodoo ****. I think I hooked up the airbag harness wrong, I cant read the directions in this crazy mandarin language. Hub and wheel are in and seem to be right, nice and tight. I love the feel of the wheel, but obviously I wont have a better idea until I actually drive the car. And I am stoked to have a new Voodoo ****! I loved my old one, but the polished finish looked like ****. All my days after work with grease on my hands, dried concrete, sweat, etc......it looked pretty nasty.

I'm going out tonight to grab some stuff to finish up my gauge cluster. I hope to order the new Alpine deck and speakers this week to have the interior finished. Then its really just the IC and pipes, intake setup, injectors and rail, then tune!

Some more work done today. I decided to lose the white faced gauges and go back to the stock black/white look. I had the needles off anyway, so I removed the white paint with some nail polish remover (limp wristed) and painted them red, then put on some top coat. I like them alot better red. I think the black/red matches the defi gauge great, now I just need to get the backlit color blue.

Yesterday I put the FM intake surround on. I'm not sure if I'm gonna rock it or not yet. I got a picture of the Gates lower radiator hose. I took a pair of pliers and a hammer and broke off the little bracket that held the old metal pipe that connected the old 2 piece setup. Seeing as I will never go back.

I'm also workin on the tail lights with the niteshades. I'll put some pictures of them up tomorrow.

And I just sold the FM IC for $450, so I'll have some more stuff on the way for next week.

Nice work Vash...there's something about taking your time and doing it right. When it's all finished and your driving again...your gonna start looking for something else to domaybo it's just me...

Thanks man, I really enjoy taking my time and doing alot. The first turbo build was rushed and half-assed. It was quick and sloppy, the car was a blast for a couple years, but now its time to do it right. There's still alot on my list, some things I might change, and whatever I think of tomorrow really! lol The gauge idea happened today when I decided it was time to ditch the e.l. gauges. I might do a coolant re-route, I was thinking about it. Only thing is I'm not sure how involved it is and I really haven't read up on it much.

As soon as the miata is back on the road I have my "other" ride to work on. Its a 99' GMC Envoy. Its 4whl drive, 6cyl, leather, and paid for! I use it for work alot and its been to plenty of job sites, but its nice to have for the winter and when I want to bring more than 1 person someplace. I blew the motor in it close to 2 years ago. Earlier that night I said to my GF at the time "jesus christ I hope this ******* motor blows". Sure as **** it seized coming back from a 2 hour drive pulling into my road! Its been sitting at the shop ever since. So I'm putting a crate motor in it after the miata is done! That's a picture of it below when I was using it for work. Sure beat driving the 88 GMC Sierras with utility bodys and a rack filled with forms.

I feel like it'll never end. But hey, I know alot of people that drown their money away on nothing.....at least I have something to show for it right?

To be honest...the BEGi re-route is soooo easy. Splice into upper rad. hose..swap inlet tube on block ..run hose from firewall to upper rad. hose splice and lower hose goes into new inlet tube...DONE!

Yes I've thrown much $$$ away and had nothing to show...until now

I had those same EXACT gauges and i happened to like them.....very easy to read.


The build is going GREAT!!! Any plans on an air guide/ducting for the rad. and intercooler?

I'm going to do some reading on the BEGI re-route today. The only thing I want to stay away from is the removal of the mani/turbo/dp. Now that I'm this close, the last thing I want to do is start going backwards! I have put alot of thought into getting a bike. I came close to bidding on a ninja on ebay, but the crotch rockets aren't really my style. I like the look of the terminator style looking bikes, like yours. My bro has had about 6 different bikes now. He's early 40's and just got a Valkyrie that he swears would destroy anything.

I got the upper and lower hose kit from Bill @ miataroaster.com. This is the link to the page that its on. http://miataroadster.com/performance.html. Although they do fit, they need to be trimmed in order to fit properly without kinks. But having the one hose seems to make ALOT more sense than having 2 hoses, 1 metal pipe, and 4 clamps.

True that. The gauges are super bright and clear. But now I'm trying to keep more of a blue/black theme....so the white gauges kinda stick out like a sore thumb. Plus the whole e.l. look was kinda ricey when looking at the car from outside. I already love having the black gauges back and the needles red.

The plan is to fool around with some aluminum and make some ducting, but that depends on too many things at this point. Time + money = both running out! lol

Thanks to everyone that has supported me on this build! Sometimes when things are going slow or I feel like a lazy ****, these comments keep me going. Hopefully some of my progress will help others in the future with their own builds.

Yea it was a lotta reading but I was bored and it was a fun read lol. Keep up the good work. Hopefully when/if I get one I have the motivation to go as in depth as you have and end up with something half as clean.Subscribed fa sho

Well **** me. I just haddd to take the ******* needles off and play with them. Now my tach doesn't work at all, the temp gauge is through the roof hot right at startup, and the oil pressure seems way to high. I don't know WTF made the tach stop working, but the other problems I hope are just the needles needing to be repositioned.

I let the car run awhile to see if the heater hose and downpipe would catch on fire. I had the garden hose ready just in case they did. I wrapped both the dp and the heater hose, and the wraps touch each other and smoke....but thankfully no fire.

I also did the GND-TFA jumper to test the fans. Holy **** do they move air! Way better than the stocker for sure. I think I had it backwards at first, now I have it sucking the air through the radiator....before it was pushing.

I have no idea what I'm going to do about the gauge cluster. I really thought I could start putting the interior back together, but I guess not.

Scratch that, tach wasn't working because I didn't have the speedo cable hooked up (duh).

Obviously I have to wait for the car to cool down to fool with the temp needle. But the oil pressure needle lays on its stopper with the ign on, then at startup goes right to 60ish, then with throttle blips it goes to 90. It never used to read that high.....ever. But I don't know how to fix it if the needle is already laying on the stopper with ign on.......

Anyone else ever have this problem?

EDIT: I just pulled up a search on m.net where my good friend scuba steve pretty much sums it all up.

So I am going to assume that I should let the car warm up again, and put my needles how they used to be. Oil pressure around 30ish and temp smack in the middle.

Seeing that everything was fine BEFORE I pulled the gauges, re-adjusting the needles like this makes sense right?

Got the FM IC out to pack up and ship to the guy I sold it to. Now I need to get my **** together and finally do my new setup with the pipes I have.

Gauges are fixed and working. I trust that if I had no problems before I changed the needles, its safe to say that putting them how they should be is fine.

And I finally got around to the rear brakes. My e-brake has been sticking alot, so I figured if I'm gonna go back there why not do rotors and pads. Nothing crazy, just EBC green and brembo smooth rotors. One day I'll upgrade....

But wow the rear pads were shot. Rotors looked a mess and the calipers were super dirty as well. I wire brushed everything and was going to paint them, but I said **** it. Everything is back together and works great....and looks alot better! Good enough for me!

Thanks guys for all the comments and props! I literally had to take a couple days off mentally from the miata. All my ideas and plans turned into one big **** of a mess in my head and I was feeling overwhelmed. Took a couple days to skate, exercise, and have some beers for the first time in forever....

But tomorrow it will all start up again! The injectors came today, as well as my Tunertoys fuel rail. [ Note: The Tunertoys rail is ******* SWEET. To think I doubted it in the other thread about the hole, theres no issue what-so-ever. ]

Injectors went through to injector-rehab straight from the guy I bought them from on ebay. Looks like they needed the service so I'm super happy with the job Injector-Rehab has done.

Also got my Aerocatch's a couple days ago. I hope they look how I imagine them on the hood. I've also been playing around with the idea of painting the whole hood or part of it, as well as going back to popups. But I feel like I need to at least give the AAC lights a chance on the car in finished form. Right now I'm trying to keep my energy focused on getting the car back on the street.
