CXRacing turbo kit
#9
i've noticed a few things about miata forums:
* it's difficult to tell when a post is serious or sarcastic without knowing the personality of a particular member, especially for people like me that don't spend every day on these boards
* it seems many posts are sarcastic, confrontational, and rude
* because of this its very difficult for a person who's serious about researching a sensitive topic to find credible info
soooooo...it's with some trepidation and doubt that i request any actual feedback as to the OP's original question: anyone have any experience with this CX Racing kit, in the last few years? I've spent a significant amount of time digging into kit options and unfortunately i find a lot of dated threads, lots of people justifying their expensive investments and putting down the "cheap" kits, and precious little objective feedback on this CX kit.
i've looked into the other kits, and some are fairly affordable. but at 1400 bucks for a fairly complete kit with a proven chinese turbo, a 10 gauge SS manifold, an intercooler, and the exhaust downpipe (plus other bits), the CX kit is very well priced kit for someone looking for a mild 6-8 psi level boost. the company seems legit and their feedback is not bad.
stay tuned. i may give this a whirl. haha, get it?

Your question is alright, but don't start moralizing. It's been a long week.
I remember someone using that manifold recently, so I'll find the link for you.
I'll save you some heartache though and tell you to go with a MK turbo kit built by one of very own moderators.

Cast log manifolds are a very reliable proven set up.
Thick schedule pipe DIY manifold also are when welded properly.
that CX racing manifold has so many welds (points of failure) and their quality control on weld quality is questionable. The turbo is cantilevered pretty far out stressing the weld joints.
I'd pay a little more now for a good cast iron log manifold that I know will last I won't have to spend time, money and other resources possibly constantly re-welding and repairing.

Found it.
Edit: Spoiler alert; the manifold is holding up fine, although fit is not optimal and the flange came warped. User wishes he had waited and bought a set up from Artech.

Its also worth mentioning that the OP didn't specify exactly which CXRacing kit he was thinking about, and any 1.6 kit of theirs has little to do with the kit linked to by i-zapp since that particular kit is 1.8 only.

I'll respond in exactly the same manner:
*to know the context of the comments, you gotta be part of the community, get to know people, etc. Many of us are friends online, AND *gasp* in real life too
*see above. Most of us are grown men, so we make grown men jokes and remarks.
*every time a n00b joins they expect us to have everything chewed up and in a gold plated spoon ready to spoonfeed the info so they don't have to do any of the hard or expensive part, just enjoy success
*every time we point them to proven methods that work and refute unproven methods that may potential fail hard, they call us "cookie cutter" conformists, closed minded, etc
*every time we reply sarcastically because a topic is either beaten to death or completely untested we are deemed terrible people
*every other n00b that comes here expects to be accommodated like we owe him something, and heaven forbid we don't, then the crying starts
Just some observations, because you know, it swings both ways.
But hey, if that last part of your post is true, you should definitely DO IT, and report back thorough data/feedback/findings/documentation and................actually contribute to the commonwealth of info on here
Good luck

This thread seems to have broken links. I see the links are directed through some "boostedmiata" site. Broke.
Also, as a stickied thread i feel that the OP should update said thread with the times. As a moderator and sticky thread owner you ought to be on top of this.
Think of the noobs.
