Building an engine for STR
#21
I donno, I've raced against some of those nc area str cars, if I wasnt a medeocre on a good day driver I would have been a lot closer than 2-3 seconds off the leaders. Especially since my car at the time pulled like a 1.6 and at both events the surface was against me, at devens it being like 60* out and I being the only car in STR on kooks, and at jersey just being unfamiliar with it and fighting a monster push.
I would listen to GAMO on this and go for a CSP car. Or better yet, scrap the auto-X competitive-ness and run track events.

Leafy,
The issue here is as much quantity as anything else. STR has exploded in the Tarheel group. Last event I was at with them, there were 12 drivers I think, or about 1/8th of the total event! Most of them are solid drivers, even if they aren't top tier. If any one of them has a good day, then you'll have a tough battle.
On the flip side, one of their main lots is/was an airport course, so the NA/NB would be a bit better in that region.
Disclosure: I'm from the Triad area of NC, and many of my friends are in that STR class, even though I only run with them a couple times a year.
