Your last pistons you had polished pretty heavily. Why the change in approach on this build?

The conversations I had with the guys from Calico sold me on the benefits. We will see in a short time if it was the right choice or not.

I wanted to. I sent them the valves and their engineering department determined that tge DLC process isn't compatible with the black nitride treatment on the valves from the factory.

You could blast the meloniting off and have the face reground then get the dlc.

Not according to Calico's engineers. They kept referring to "outgassing" and I felt like I was watching Armageddon.

I guess your best bet if you want the ground face to get any kind of coating would be to blast and re-grind them and send them to a shop that does QPQ Melonite.

I have to say, two turbos work better than two superchargers.

Looking good though. What changes have you made on the SC setup?

Also since you seem to have a thing for light weight and reliable, you might consider replacing your t-bolts with ABA hose clamps. They work better, and are lighter. I've run 40 PSI on my ABA hose clamps so far, no boost leaks, no blown off pipes.

Engine bay in "final form" right after being fired off for the first time.

Tonight when I get home, I have got to clean the trailer out and getthe car loaded up to head to Atlanta tomorrow. I have a stack of pulleys and a power goal that I think is within reach......we should know if all the work was worth it by the end of the day.
