Default Alternator with high RPM engine

Did a search and did not find an existing post. I keep going through alternators. The auto parts store rebuilds are junk. The car has a B6 with aftermarket crank pullie (high quality dampener) so have the wider ribbed belt, therefore running a 94 -97 alternator. I spin the the motor to 8K RPM. Otherwise the car is a typical SCCA STL (Super Touring Light) Miata. When I ran SM with stock ECU and rev limiter of 7200 RPMs, never really had too much of a problem but those 800 extra RPMs seem to make a big difference for the alternator life.

For those of you who spin higher RPMs, what you you doing to keep your alternator alive?

TIA

I run 8k rpm quite a bit.. my only accessory issue is power steering belts. Alternators every few years... the parts store rebuilds really are crap! Always takes a few tries for a good one.

If you have an MS3, get an RX-8 alternator.

Bigger alternator pulley, or smaller crank pulley.
