Default Poll: Would you pay more for carbon fiber?

Our upcoming hood louvers will include gurney flaps to maximize their effectiveness.

The standard material for these is aluminum, and frankly, it's good enough for everything on up to ALMS-level cars.

However, I'm playing with doing the gurneys in carbon fiber. This would save a bit of weight but the real reason is just for the increased sexy factor. There is no performance difference.

If we did aluminum gurneys, they would ship bare, so it would be up to you guys to spray them black or whatever. Whereas the carbon you'd most likely want to just leave as-is.

Naturally, cost for the carbon would be higher - and it would require some special tooling on my end as well.

This would increase the cost of the kit by approximately $15.

The more input the better, we'll only be doing one or the other.

So, yay or nay? Would you happily spend the extra $15 for carbon fiber gurney flaps or would you prefer to keep the $15 in your pocket and get aluminum gurneys?

Don't want to sway the poll one way or another, but would CF Gurneys slow the release of these louvers? Seems like it would, because you even mentioned acquiring tooling and such.

Just a thought, I could take them either way, both have their advantages.

Since they are a relatively small item, it's not like having a carbon fiber hood that is totally out of place on the otherwise painted car, it's just a little detail.

I love carbon stuff, so that would have been my vote, I don't want to add the complexity and cost if the majority of you guys would prefer to save the cash.

Don't care. Whichever gets them shipped fastest.

No carbon teaser pics since it's looking like most people would prefer aluminum

The tribe has spoken:

Aluminum wins by 3x the number of votes.

If it's good enough for ALMS cars, it oughta be good enough for us eh?

It has nothing to do with being good enough for an ALMS car, it has everything to do with us being a bunch of cheap *******.
