Koni Leak
Got the car jacked up to do a tranny seal. Im working and all of a sudden I see fluid leaking down the left side of the car by the wheel well. I figured for sure I fucked up something with the clutch hose since it smelled like brake fluid. Turns out its the top of the shock. 4 years old maybe 35k miles. Im a little pissed. Anybody else had problems? Maybe thats all I should expect from them

Shock absorbers/struts leak when they get older, but I have another theory...
You jacked up the car, and it began to leak? Sounds like it might have been fluid from inside the shock, or strut itself; was it an insert, or a complete strut? If it was the former, then I would say it was the fluid they used to help keep the insert cool... If you put an insert in a housing without some sort of fluid, it will eventually overheat...
Just a thought..

You should generally be able to expect more than 35k miles out of a Koni shock. Call Koni NA and explain your situation to them. They've been nothing short of great with me in past years, both with a couple of rebuilds and even helping source a set of long-discontinued struts at one point.
If nothing else, their rebuild costs aren't horrible, plus their shop guys are honest and won't give you any BS.

Called Koni. Their policy is they will send a relacement shock at half price then credit your card when they get bad one back. But you must have receipt which of course I dont. So they would then sell me a new one at 189 bucks which they claim to be discounted. I called Goodwin and ordered a new one at 129 bucks. Keep your receipts
